P7 Leavers
We had an amazing day yesterday seeing some of our P7’s and giving them their hoodies. Again, a huge thank you to our Parent Council who made this all possible with their generosity.

New Cumnock Primary School Prize Giving 2020
Today we are delighted to share our Prize Giving ceremony with you all. It is not how we envisaged our ceremony to be, as we love it when we all gather in the church at this time of year to celebrate your successes. Nevertheless, we have worked together to mark this momentous day in our school calendar and we hope you enjoy it! So sit down, get a cup of tea and enjoy our Prize Giving ceremony from the comfort of your own home.
We will begin with Mrs McMurdo’s Head Teacher Speech.
No Prize Giving is complete without a few words (or a tune) from our beloved Minister, Rev. Cuthbert.
Thank you to all our certificate winners for coming to school last Friday to be awarded with their certificates. We are delighted to share these with you now.
Now onto our Hunter award winners. Each year, one child from each class is awarded this prestigious award. Listen carefully as each teacher shares their reasons for choosing their award winner this year. We want to extend a huge thank you to The Hunter Foundation for their continued support of our school and our annual Prize Giving.
And now onto our wonderful P7s. This is certainly not the way we wanted your school years with us to end. We are extremely proud of you all and cannot wait till we can have you all back to celebrate your time with us. We wish you all the very best of luck in your future.

Last but not least, we are sadly saying goodbye to 4 members of staff this session. A huge virtual hug goes out to Mrs Morton, Miss White, Mrs Sussman-Bryden and Miss Ritchie. We have loved having you all as part of Team New Cumnock and hope our paths cross again one day.
And this marks the end of our Virtual Prize Giving ceremony. Thank you for tuning in. We hope you all have a lovely, relaxing summer holiday and we look forward to seeing you all again in August.

Waste Week
Hello my eco warriors! I hope you are all well!
When we finished up in March the eco group had started to plan ‘Waste Week’. As we missed out in school I have some activities for you to complete at home if you would like to. Once again anything you do will help our Green flag application so I would be very grateful if you could give it a go and send me your findings.
Today’s activities focus on energy. They will help you to understand ways we waste energy in our homes and what we can do to save energy.
This first activity is suitable for P1-7

Technology Competition First Round Winners!
We were delighted to receive some great news this morning! Our P5-7’s have been taking part in The Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) Faraday Competition and so far we have 3 first round winners!
The competition is being run by the IET and Airbus. The challenge is to design a new technology to help a disaster zone in the world.
Well done to Brooke Murray, Emma Johnstone and Emma Young.
Brooke designed a PPE vending machine for use in the current Covid-19 global pandemic.
Emma J designed an all terrain rescue vehicle which can be a boat or a land vehicle powered by a quad, fully fitted to provide emergency medical treatment .
Emma Y designed a hurricane shelter equipped with resources needed to survive. Emma’s shelter can be moved anywhere by plane and lowered into an area using a winch line.
Well done girls – we are all really proud of you! We eagerly await to see if your entries are selected for the next round.
P5-7’s you can still enter the competition until the end of this week.
