We are all excited about World Book Day on Thursday 5th of March and we are getting ready for some fun reading activities – both in school and at home.
Our Book Fair is running every day from 3pm – 4pm so please come along and see the wonderful books that are available.
Our parents and carers have been invited to help encourage their children to read and enjoy books and stories.
Here is Olivia’s in P5 – what an amazing Harry Potter book cover she has created and also some amazing facts about Hermione Granger!

We are taking part in East Ayrshire Council’s Power Down initiative.
We have been working really hard on monthly energy reducing challenges in school and are the Challenge of the Month winners.

Windy’s Top Tips are great ways that we can also reduce energy at school and at home! Perhaps some of these can help reduce our carbon footprint and our energy bills!!

Please help us raise our community caddy count by naming and registering your family’s food caddy. And remember…there’s a monthly prize draw from February to May!
Thank you for your support!

Please find the link below for the most recent school handbook.
Our next RAG BAG collection will be on MONDAY 16th of FEBRUARY. Please bring any items for recycling to school on that day as the truck will arrive early the next morning for collection. There is a list below of items that can and cannot be recycled.
The school receives some money for our recycling efforts and it also helps towards our efforts of being a ‘Clean, Green’ school.

However they cannot accept the following items:

Once again we are celebrating ‘Dyslexia Awareness Week‘ this week in the school. Mrs Cross led a whole school assembly last week all about ‘Neurodiversity’ and how children with Dyslexia are supported within the school.
The P5-7 classes will also be completing some activities regarding Dyslexia and will be putting away their pens for ‘No Pens Wednesday’.
We use Glow in school and embedded within Glow is Immersive Reader which is a very handy tool for children with Dyslexia. Here is the link if you are interested in having a look:
In school we also use the Nessy Spelling and Reading programme with all of our Primary 4 and Primary 5 children. Some of our Primary 6 and 7 children continue accessing the programme if they need to.
IT is used throughout the school to support our children with Dyslexia. We have Chromebooks, laptops and iPads which the children access to help with their learning.
All children from P3-7 participate in the STAR reading programme and have library books linked to their reading age to allow them to read for pleasure independently. Last session we became a Reading School following all of the efforts we have made to develop a love of reading with our children. We have purchased specific books for our Dyslexic children which are located in a section of our library.

Mrs Cross, Miss Gill and the Digital Committee are delighted to announce the achievement of our Digital Schools Award. We had our validation meeting this morning which confirmed our hard work and effort had all been worth it!
We will continue to strive towards new goals within Digital Learning and we are all excited about what lies ahead for the coming sessions.
