Dyslexia Awareness Week Scotland will take place from 1st – 7th November 2021.
The theme of Dyslexia Awareness Week is Destination Dyslexia: a route map
We want to make Scotland a dyslexia friendly destination for every person who has dyslexia.  A dyslexia friendly society is one where everyone understands dyslexia and how it impacts the 1 in 10 children and adults who are dyslexic (Dyslexia Scotland, https://www.dyslexiascotland.org.uk/dyslexia-awareness-week-scotland)
During this week children will take part in activities to learn about dyslexia and why it is important that everyone gets the support they need to learn.

Nessy and MYON

Jus a reminder that we have two fabulous resources to help children with their literacy.

NESSY SPELLING AND READING

All P3-P7 children have a login to NESSY Spelling and Reading. This is a personalised reading and spelling programme which is great fun and very effective. The children all have the details of how to log in and can access the programme in school and at home.

https://learn.nessy.com/account/login#/accountLogin

MYON

MYON is a huge catalogue of online books accessible to all children in the school. There are over 6000 texts to choose from and the resource has a ‘Read to Me’ function which means no book is off-limits for the children. There are loads of non-fiction books to choose from as well as fiction books.

Your child will have details of how to access the resource – either in their IT passport or on the class blog page.

Dear Parents and Carers,

Some of our innovative Primary 5 children were keen to raise everyone’s general awareness of breast cancer in the month of October.

As such, they have arranged a ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Day’ on Friday 22nd October 2021.

There is no cost to participate in the day, Children across the school and ECC are invited to wear something pink to mark the occasion. Some suggestions from the girls are pink socks, pink t-shirt or pink shoes.

If you do not have anything pink- please do not buy anything. The girls have made a pink awareness raising recyclable bracelet for anyone who would like one. The class teachers will distribute these on Friday.

Should you need any further advice or support in relation to Breast Cancer please follow the link below:

https://breastcancernow.org/information-support

If you would like to make a donation towards Breast Cancer Awareness, this can be done via ParentPay.

On behalf of the Primary 5 Children, THANK YOU for your support.

Hello, my name is Alice and I am the new PATHS coach for Mauchline Primary School & ECC.

It is my job to support the whole school community in the third year of your PATHS journey. As a reminder, PATHS is a social and emotional learning programme designed to support schools as they facilitate the development of children’s emotional awareness, friendships, and problem-solving skills. In my role as PATHS Coach I will be supporting staff, children and parents/carers to get the most out of our exciting PATHS programme. I look forward to getting to know your whole school community this year!

Mrs Murray (Miss Millar) is the lead for PATHS in Mauchline Primary. If you have any questions about PATHS, please email her on lyndsey.murray@eastayrshire.org.uk
