Accessing Microsoft Office 365

Friday 27th March

Good morning Mauchline PS & ECC

Firstly let me say that we all deserve a rest today. I don’t know about you, but I am shattered – in more ways than one!!

A very different week and it’s been rather strange for us all.

Please don’t feel that you have to be accessing all of this new technology ‘stuff’ straight away. Even the staff are completely befuddled by most of it – no one is an expert yet (me included!)

However I have had a lot of interest in accessing the Microsoft Office 365 parts – Word, Powerpoint, TEAMS etc.

So I have made a very basic help page which I hope will provide some guidance.

I already posted a help page for accessing GLOW earlier in the week, so you may need to have look at that first.

See below for my home-made help page to Office 365.

I also managed to find a help page on the internet for TEAMS. I hope it will be of some assistance. It’s not the easiest of platforms to operate and best left to the experts among us i.e. your children!!

Reading Outdoors

Thursday 26th March

Good morning Mauchline PS & ECC!

If you are fortunate enough to have a garden or some safe outdoor space, why not take your reading outdoors.

Put on a warm jacket, hat and some gloves and head outside for some much-needed fresh air. Take something warm and comfy to sit on and if you have a small tent – all the better!

Wednesday 25th March

Good morning Mauchline PS & ECC

I hope you are all well this morning and are beginning to settle into life at home. This morning I have set my children some learning activities to keep their brains busy. I have bought myself a new book and we are all having reading sessions every day. I have included some good reading challenges (Reading Bingo) that you may wish to try over the next few weeks – see the post below.

I am looking for fun and educational activities to keep everyone learning at home. I have already posted some ideas in your class Glow pages and I will continue to keep on the look-out.

Remember the basics: keep reading, help out round the house, try to keep busy (help with the cooking, baking, cleaning) as there is always hidden numeracy and literacy that you didn’t even know you were doing. Your pack will keep you busy for now – remember it’s nearly the Easter holidays!

Stay safe.

Reading Challenges

Fancy a reading challenge over the next few weeks?

I have added some reading bingo cards for early (ECC-P1), first (P2-4) and second (P5-7) levels.

Look in the ECC page and all of the class pages to get a copy of the correct bingo page for your children.

Go on – keep Mauchline PS & ECC children reading!

Class Glow Pages

Please remember to check for the class page that your child is in. Every teacher, over the next few weeks, will be posting some messages and activities for the children to complete.

The class pages work differently from the main Blog Post (this one) as it doesn’t provide alerts straight to the APP. You have to have a look to see if there have been any updates.

The posts from the main blog page (this one) are sent straight to the APP. You have to select the News tab in the APP to see what has been added.

We are all on a learning curve at the moment with regards to distance learning, so please be patient as staff are still also working in the local hubs – and some also have their own cherubs to home-educate!

Extra learning ideas

Good afternoon from Mrs Cross!!

I am busy trying to find the best home-learning activities to supplement the home-learning packs that were provided last week.

I have added some ideas for P1 and P5-7 for numeracy learning at home – I’m still looking for extra ones for P2-4.  I have added the documents to the class blog pages.

Here are three packs that I have just found on the internet that give some lovely suggestions:

Microsoft 365

As part of accessing Glow, all children now have access to Microsoft 365 which contains Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Teams etc.

This is a fabulous resource and one which will allow the children to keep their I.T. skills polished.

Just in case you are having difficulty accessing this at home, please try the following:

  • If you are asked to enter log in details when clicking on Office 365, your details are as follows;
  • Your Glow username (the one you use to log in to Glow) followed by @glow.sch.uk
  • The password is then the same as your Glow password (for most of the pupils at the moment the password is mauchline (no capitals).
