Dear Parents and Carers,

Some of our innovative Primary 5 children were keen to raise everyone’s general awareness of breast cancer in the month of October.

As such, they have arranged a ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Day’ on Friday 22nd October 2021.

There is no cost to participate in the day, Children across the school and ECC are invited to wear something pink to mark the occasion. Some suggestions from the girls are pink socks, pink t-shirt or pink shoes.

If you do not have anything pink- please do not buy anything. The girls have made a pink awareness raising recyclable bracelet for anyone who would like one. The class teachers will distribute these on Friday.

Should you need any further advice or support in relation to Breast Cancer please follow the link below:

If you would like to make a donation towards Breast Cancer Awareness, this can be done via ParentPay.

On behalf of the Primary 5 Children, THANK YOU for your support.

Walk to school Week CHALLENGE

‘Walk to School Week coincides with Health Week next week from 17-21st May.

The JRSO have planned a week full of events to encourage participation in Walk to School Week.

Our main event is the EVEREST CHALLENGE.

We are trying to walk the same number of steps over the course of the week to school, as it would take to walk Mount Everest as a whole school.

We need 58,000 steps!

It would be great if we could all work together to achieve our challenge.

Steps can be counted by your child (an adult can help them), recorded on an activity watch or alternatively the internet can be used to look up the daily walk to school route for how many steps it takes. Teachers will then record the steps as a full class in the hope we can reach 58,000 by the end of the week!

The JRSO would also like all pupils to wear something bright each day; For example: bobbles, bracelet’s, socks, t-shirt, jumpers, shoes etc,  to encourage us all to stay safe while walking to school.

Thank you

JRSO (Junior Road Safety Officers)

Head Teacher Challenge- Poppy Field

I would like to create a ‘Poppy Field’ display within the School and ECC to raise the awareness of ‘Armistice Day’. Armistice Day is on 11 November and is also known as Remembrance Day or ‘Poppy Day’.

It marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918. A two-minute silence is held at 11am to remember the people who have died in wars.

The Head Teacher challenge this month is to design a Poppy to be put on our display. These can be designed in anyway you can think of, using any material you choose. It should reflect the theme of remembrance and peace.  It should be no bigger than the palm of your hand.

When you have made your poppy please write your name and class on the back of it and bring it into school by the 10th November to be displayed.

Congratulations

Well done to all those who took part in the Head Teacher challenge!

Certificates have been given out today. If we have accidentally missed your photo post due to the ‘technology gremlins’ please contact the office and we will get a certificate out to you next week.

Have a Spooktacular weekend.
