ECC

Good Morning to our wonderful parents, carers and children.
We would like to send you a huge virtual hug this morning. We hope you are well and are working through your home learning pack. Keep to a clear routine for your children it will help them to feel more secure in this time of ongoing changes. Together we can get through these challenging times. So be kind to yourselves please. I hope that all our ECC children will be giving Ms Dougan’s challenge a go! Make your beds this morning, give it a go!
I would like to give our ECC children our own challenge! Now you know we have a ‘child of the day’ and you get to hear some fantastic compliments. Today I want you to make someone smile by giving out compliments. We would love to hear some of your compliments so remember to share!

Wednesday 25th March

Good morning Mauchline PS & ECC

I hope you are all well this morning and are beginning to settle into life at home. This morning I have set my children some learning activities to keep their brains busy. I have bought myself a new book and we are all having reading sessions every day. I have included some good reading challenges (Reading Bingo) that you may wish to try over the next few weeks – see the post below.

I am looking for fun and educational activities to keep everyone learning at home. I have already posted some ideas in your class Glow pages and I will continue to keep on the look-out.

Remember the basics: keep reading, help out round the house, try to keep busy (help with the cooking, baking, cleaning) as there is always hidden numeracy and literacy that you didn’t even know you were doing. Your pack will keep you busy for now – remember it’s nearly the Easter holidays!

Stay safe.

Reading Challenges

Fancy a reading challenge over the next few weeks?

I have added some reading bingo cards for early (ECC-P1), first (P2-4) and second (P5-7) levels.

Look in the ECC page and all of the class pages to get a copy of the correct bingo page for your children.

Go on – keep Mauchline PS & ECC children reading!

Class Glow Pages

Please remember to check for the class page that your child is in. Every teacher, over the next few weeks, will be posting some messages and activities for the children to complete.

The class pages work differently from the main Blog Post (this one) as it doesn’t provide alerts straight to the APP. You have to have a look to see if there have been any updates.

The posts from the main blog page (this one) are sent straight to the APP. You have to select the News tab in the APP to see what has been added.

We are all on a learning curve at the moment with regards to distance learning, so please be patient as staff are still also working in the local hubs – and some also have their own cherubs to home-educate!

Extra learning ideas

Good afternoon from Mrs Cross!!

I am busy trying to find the best home-learning activities to supplement the home-learning packs that were provided last week.

I have added some ideas for P1 and P5-7 for numeracy learning at home – I’m still looking for extra ones for P2-4.  I have added the documents to the class blog pages.

Here are three packs that I have just found on the internet that give some lovely suggestions:

Microsoft 365

As part of accessing Glow, all children now have access to Microsoft 365 which contains Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Teams etc.

This is a fabulous resource and one which will allow the children to keep their I.T. skills polished.

Just in case you are having difficulty accessing this at home, please try the following:

  • If you are asked to enter log in details when clicking on Office 365, your details are as follows;
  • Your Glow username (the one you use to log in to Glow) followed by @glow.sch.uk
  • The password is then the same as your Glow password (for most of the pupils at the moment the password is mauchline (no capitals).

Glow

All children from P1-7 have been provided with a Glow email and password. The older children already knew their passwords.

The rest of the pupils have been issued with their Glow username and password. For the moment all children’s passwords have been set as mauchline. No capital letter.

Passwords can then be changed as required.

Home Learning Packs

Your child should have brought home a home-learning pack. The activities contained in them are simply a guide to some suggested activities that they can complete at home.

In the pack there is also a stapled list of resources and websites to assist with some basic everyday activities that the children can be getting on with while they are away from school.

I have attached the stapled copy below – this was given out to all children regardless of their age (P1-7).
