Understand autism, the person and what to do.

https://youtu.be/Lr4_dOorquQ

I’m not naughty. I’m autistic.
For autistic people like me, the world can be a terrifying place. Sometimes sounds feel like my head is exploding. Clothes feel like my skin is burning. And when a tiny thing changes, it feels like my world is ending.
Sometimes I get too much information. And if you only see a naughty kid, you haven’t got enough. #AutismTMI

Red Nose Day

Tomorrow (19th March) we will be taking part in Red Nose Day activities to support Comic Relief. All of our children will get the chance to take part in different activities in school, which will raise awareness of the work the charity does to support people in need.

Children are encouraged to take part in a Dress Down Day, where they can:

  • celebrate being a hero (dress up as their favourite character who is a hero to them)
  • dress up a bit silly (think odd socks & shoes, different coloured clothes or a funny hairstyle), or
  • just come to school in casual clothes

We are asking for a donation to be made (suggested £1), which will be given to Comic Relief. This can either be made through Parent Pay or paid in cash on Friday.

“Funny is Power. Funny can change things. It can connect us. It can be the difference.”

As it is Comic Relief, we would love it if the children prepared a joke that they could share with their class and teachers. We will be sharing pictures from the day on twitter.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Primary 1-3 will be completing activities in school and P4-7 will complete them remotely. These resources can be found in the news section of the app or by following the link below to our blog where you will find the Sway presentation.

Please follow the link to the Blog for access to all the resources to support Autism Awareness Day.

https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/ea/dronganpsecc2016/pupil-groups/dyslexia-friendly-schools-2/autism/

We will be learning all about Autism and taking part in a range of activities. We have asked that you wear something to express yourself and do your hair in a crazy style. We want to celebrate the fact that we are all different so be as out there as you want! At the end of the day, please take some time to complete the questionnaires on the blog all about the activities today. Please also email photos of yourself taking part in any of today’s activities to Miss Smith.

Thank you,
