P7 have been enjoying music workshops from Sounds Right using Garageband on the IPads.
Today we were learning how to create 8 bar musical pieces using Apple Loops.
We had to use several instruments to show progression in the music. have a listen to our tracks!
Today we created shape and movement using pair balances in PE. We really enjoyed our session and we’re keen to show off our skills!
Today we created these fact flap books all about Queen Victoria.
We used tessellation skills to draw 7 hexagons and cut them out to look like a flower with attached petals.
We did a line drawing sketch of Queen Victoria in the centre of our flowers using a portrait found online.
We brainstormed facts we knew about Queen Victoria and shared information with each other!

This week is Book Week Scotland! Every day this week we will be doing a Drop Everything And Read session using books from our class library.

Our P7 boys did a fantastic job on Friday representing our school at the East Ayrshire Council Junior Youth Conference. The conference focused on the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child, and how our learning links with our rights.
They used menti to answer questions and put forward their opinions and now have lots of ideas to take forward our Rights Respecting Schools Silver Award!

Today you will be creating a timeline of important events in the Victorian times. You’ll remember from our workshop that the Victorian era is defined from 1837 when Victoria became Queen until 1901 when Victoria died.
Timelines must be structured in chronological order. You should start with 1937 and end with 1901. Try to include at least 10 events/ inventions/ important dates within your timeline. You can use the internet for your own research.

You should include words and pictures in your timeline, and remember to add in the dates of each event!
To finish off for today, here is a horrible histories song all about Victorian inventions!
We used an extract from the WW1 novel “War Horse” to create these blackout poems for Remembrance day. Pupils circled the words and phrases from the text to create a poem to be read from top to bottom. They are so effective!
We have been researching some of the names found on our school WW2 memorial board using the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.
This activity has allowed us to give more context to Remembrance Day and work as detectives to find out more information about the names on the board that we walk past every day.
Next time, we’ll all pause a moment and remember the sacrifices made by these men from our village.
We have been enjoying learning about the COP26 event in Glasgow and really interested about the climate crisis. We watched a clip from David Attenborough’s “Frozen Planet” and discussed his impact statement about melting ice caps:
We created these polar bear images in response to the climate crisis, using water colours and black markers.
This links with Article 12 from the UNCRC “Every child has the right to have a say in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously”.
We had a fantastic virtual visit from Queen Victoria and Prince Albert from “Zoom Through History” to kick off our learning about the Victorians.
We took notes about what Queen Victoria and Prince Albert told us, and we brainstormed what areas of Victorian life we’d like to learn more about.
