P7 have spent the last few PE sessions working on hockey skills and tactics with Miss Thorpe.

New Year Goals
Happy New Year! We have been investigating our word of the week; RESOLUTION. We discovered it’s meaning and created mentor sentences using the word. We then discussed our own resolutions and goals for 2022, creating these colourful celebration horns!
Pair Balances PE
Today we created shape and movement using pair balances in PE. We really enjoyed our session and we’re keen to show off our skills!
East Ayrshire Children and Young People’s Climate Conference 2021
We were so happy to be invited to the EAC Children and Young People’s Climate Conference via TEAMS today. We joined with other primary 7 classes across the authority to listen to speeches and take part in question sessions using the interactive presentation app, MENTI.
The 4 main themes for today’s conference were ENERGY, WASTE, TRANSPORT and ENVIRONMENT. The council also launched their new Clean Green School Award which our 2 Class Climate Reps and House Captains, Aiden and Mason, will be taking forward.
At the end of the afternoon, all children were encouraged to make a Green Pledge; something they will strive to do to help with the climate crisis. Here are some of our pupils sharing their pledges:

I think all our geography has improved and we had lots of team spirit!
Poverty Proofing
As part of our initiative to Poverty Proof the School Day, we read “The Invisible” by Tom Percival. It highlighted to us the importance of gratitude and how poverty can impact communities.
We created our own gratitude jars to tell each other all the things we were grateful for in our own lives. We realised we all had a lot more in common than previously thought.
Class Charter
Our new class charter is displayed in our classroom!
There are no imposters among us in Primary 7!
The class charter sets out our rights and responsibilities in the classroom, how the teacher will help ensure our rights are fulfilled, and which UN articles we feel are most important for our learning.
Class Charter
Today Primary 7 started building towards their class charter.
We discussed the SHANARRI indicators (Safe, Healthy, Achieving, Nurtured, Active, Respected, Responsible, Included) and how they link to some of the UN Children’s Rights articles.
We chose 8 articles in our groups to best represent each of the SHANARRI indicators and matched them up.
Our next step is to plan a theme for our class charter and choose our final 5 core rights for our class charter.
