CLICK HERE TO RETURN TO THE SCIENCE HOMEPAGE

As we are learning about space this term, here are some videos from the Glasgow Science Centre that you might find interesting and support your learning:

Also, here are some home learning tasks you can complete to support your class work:

  • Try this BBC Bitesize Lesson
  • Create a space book with facts about each of the planets.  your space book should contain diagrams and accurate information including distance from the sun, atmosphere, conditions etc.
  • Download a stargazing app on your phone or tablet.  Go outside in the dark and hold the tablet/ phone to the sky.  What constellations can you see?  Can you use cotton buds to recreate the constellations you have observed like this example:

  • Over the course of 2 weeks, observe the phases of the moon.  Keep a moon diary and use the correct terms such as waxing and waning, full, gibbous, crescent, quarter, crescent and new.

  • If you feel like getting messy and creative, create models of the planets by using balloons and paper mache!
  • Investigate gravity and mass by making paper helicopters.  Use this template to make them:
