At St Joseph’s, we’ve been busy caring for our fruit trees with the help of Norval, who taught us how trees “breathe in” greenhouse gases like carbon and nitrogen and release oxygen, helping our planet. We inspected the trees for damage, cleaned up broken branches, and used mulch made from natural materials like cardboard to enrich the soil. This will keep the trees healthy and ready to produce more fruit.
For Scottish Careers Week 2024, pupils had an exciting day of career exploration at Stranraer Community College! The day kicked off with a fun Would You Rather game, where pupils worked in teams to brainstorm different careers based on quirky props. 🤔 They then explored a range of job options on My World of Work, discovering everything from technical trades to creative fields, helping them get a better idea of what might suit their skills
In P5-7 with Miss Scott, everyone had an awesome time learning about recycled fashion! They explored how everyday materials are used in clothes and how we can give them a second life. This week, P1-4 had a brilliant time with Helen from the Lighthouse Musicians! The session was all about exploring opposites in music, and the children had lots of fun learning through games and activities. One of the highlights was the game “Where’s the Beanbag?” the children had to listen carefully to the music and figure out whether the sound was loud or soft, fast or slow, or high or low.
