Fairtrade Fun with the Eco Committee!
On Friday afternoon, Primary 1-4 had a fantastic time celebrating Fairtrade with the Eco Committee! We learned all about the importance of Fairtrade, enjoyed some delicious Fairtrade snacks and drinks, and put our knowledge to the test in an exciting Kahoot quiz—hosted by our very own Kamil!
It was great to see everyone working together, thinking carefully about the quiz questions, and cheering each other on. We discovered how Fairtrade helps farmers and workers around the world by making sure they are paid fairly and treated with respect.
By taking part in this event, we developed important meta-skills like:
• Collaboration – We worked together to learn about Fairtrade and supported each other during the quiz.
• Critical Thinking – We thought carefully about the quiz questions and used what we had learned to choose the best answers.
• Communication – We shared our ideas, listened to others, and discussed why Fairtrade is important.
This celebration linked to our UNCRC rights, including:
• Article 24 – Every child has the right to good food and clean water. Fairtrade helps make sure farmers can provide for their families.
• Article 27 – Every child has the right to a good standard of living. Fairtrade supports people around the world to earn a fair wage.
• Article 29 – Education should help us understand the world around us. Learning about Fairtrade helps us become responsible global citizens!
We also explored many aspects of SHANARRI:
• Healthy – We enjoyed delicious Fairtrade food and drinks while learning about making fair and responsible choices.
• Included – Everyone took part, shared their ideas, and worked together as a team.
• Responsible – We learned how our choices can make a difference in the world by supporting Fairtrade products.
A huge well done to Kamil for hosting the quiz so brilliantly and to the Eco Committee for organising such a fun and important event! We are now more aware of how we can help make the world a fairer place—one Fairtrade choice at a time!
