Do Well Together, Where Everyone Matters

Home Learning

Tuesday 28th April

Good morning folks.

We are planning to use the app Class Dojo now as our main method of communication. This allows you to respond to us, to share news, to show pictures of what you’ve been up to  and ask any questions you may have.

You will receive an email during the course of this week, or a text message, with details to help you get up and running. Please simply download the app named Class Dojo in the first instance.

Thank you and hear from you all soon.

Monday 27th April

Good morning!

Another beautiful day out there, so let’s continue to make the most of it and get outdoors if we can. When you’re in the garden or out on your daily walk why don’t you collect some sticks and stones, or similar materials, to make an exciting game!

Noughts & Crosses

Ask your family to help you and remind you of the rules of the game. Enjoy yourselves and good luck !!

Cherry Blossom

Maybe you’ve seen some of these beautiful trees when you’ve been outdoors or perhaps you may have one in your own garden!  Spring time is full of colour and these gorgeous petals will be falling and blowing in the wind. You could catch some and use them to make a picture with any leftover twigs.10 Cherry Blossom Tree Crafts for kids

Thursday 23rd April

Hi everyone.

I’m sure you have all heard about Captain Tom Moore on the news over the last week. He recently completed 100 laps of his garden to raise money for NHS Charities Together. Captain Moore was a soldier a long time ago and has raised over £20,000,000. Captain Tom will be 100 years old on 30th April this year and our little task for you to do over the next few days is to design a birthday card for him. All the cards are being displayed in Captain Tom’s Grandson’s school. The address is:

Captain Tom Moore

C/O Marston Moretaine Post Office

67 Bedford Road

Marston Mortaine

Bedford

MK43 0LA

If you can’t get out to post a card, you could leave a message for him on The Post Office Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/postoffice/

The Post Office are also offering four downloadable cards to colour in on their website. You could possibly have a look online at Captain Tom Moore completing his challenge.

Monday 20th April

Hello everyone. We hope you’ve had a lovely Easter despite the very unusual circumstances this year. The weather has been marvellous and you have hopefully been taking advantage of it with Easter hunts and daily walks outside.

As another term dawns, we shall continue to post activities that you may wish to try, at your leisure. Always remember that you and your child’s (children’s, for the twin families) good health and wellbeing is of paramount importance. Enjoy this time just being together, being safe and making memories.

   Den Building

A den is the child’s chance to create a house away from home that is secret, and becomes a manifestation of who they are.”  David Sopel

Perhaps you could try making a den if you haven’t already done so. We always love making them in Nursery. You could make one indoors or outdoors depending on the resources you have. (ask your families first!) We’re sure you’ll have endless fun creating a wee place of your own ( a castle, a space station, a workshop… ) using old sheets, blankets, pieces of fabric, old newspapers, any natural materials……. just use your imagination and enjoy yourselves! Thank you families!

Friday 3rd April

Good morning!

Today we have some Easter activities to share with you, the big day isn’t far away! We have tried to give you ideas to make things with material you might already have at home.

Easter card

Can you create an Easter card for someone in your house? All you need is your feet and some paint!

Don’t have any orange paint? You can mix red and yellow paints together or you can draw around your feet, cut them out and colour them in!

Easter Bunnies

Super easy to make using kitchen roll or toilet roll card to print. If you don’t have paint at home, why not draw around your template?

If you were feeling really creative, you could try to make your own paint? There are lots of short videos on youtube to help with this.

Easter Printing using your fingers

Ask an adult to help you make a bunny template and paint around it.

or for the really adventurous…an Easter tree!

To make the above you would need:

  • twigs from your garden/daily walk
  • salt dough*
  • paint/coloured pens

Salt dough recipe

2 cups/250g of plain flour

1 cup/125g salt

1 cup/250ml water

To do:

  • Mix all of the ingredients together and knead into a dough
  • Create your shapes – remember to leave a little hole at the top for the ribbon/string/rubber band
  • Bake in the oven at about 120 degrees for up to 2 hours or longer if required/leave to air dry until hard
  • Once your creations have cooled they are ready to paint

If the mixture is too sticky, just add more flour.

Have fun and stay safe!

Wednesday 1st April

Hi everyone, we hope you enjoyed the scavenger hunt and are making the most of your time outside whilst the weather is still good.

Today we have some number activities for you to try over the next wee while:

  • find examples of numbers in newspapers, magazines or junk mail to cut out and make a number poster
  • sing numbers songs like we do in Nursery: 10 green bottles, 5 currant buns in a baker’s shop, 5 fat sausages.
  • play games like ‘what’s the time Mr Wolf?’ and ‘Simon says’ *
  • Watch an episode of the number jacks on BBC iplayer for kids – this can be viewed on a smart TV or on iPads/tablets through the BBCiplayer Kids app
  • If you are enjoying some time outdoors, can you find up to 10 different sticks/stones/leaves and put them in size order
  • and…relax!! *

*see photos below

Friday 27th March

We hope you and your families are well and staying safe together during these difficult and stressful times and hope you are all settling in to a new way of living and learning. Your family’s health and well-being is of utmost importance; staying happy and healthy is all we could wish for you to do during this time we are all spending apart. Play is very important, especially at times like these and in the words of Maria Montessori “Play is the work of the child“. We would love for you to be continuing some home learning if you can and have sent some activities home in a pack; please note that these are not compulsory and you can keep active by playing, singing, reading and talking together. We know you will have lots of ideas of your own for some home learning or may well have seen links online but over the coming weeks we will share a few more activities with you to have a go at and enjoy together. Watch this space!
