P5/4M – Miss Morton

Term 2 Information

‘Guess the Square’ Competition

We are running a competition to raise funds for the school.

If your child would like to take part in this competition, squares are £1 each and they will be on sale during the school day from Monday 2nd December until Friday 13th December (or until all squares are sold!)

The winning square will receive a Children’s Christmas stocking.

Pupils from P4M and P5/4M will come round each class every day to sell squares.

Many thanks for your continued support

P5/4M Enterprise

Our class, alongside P5N, are making our own personally designed 2025 calendars and sweetie bags which can be ordered in time for Christmas presents! All you need to do is fill in the form that your child brings home this week and return it and the money by Friday 6th December.

Calendars are £3.00 each

Sweetie bags are £1.50 each

Ram Tam Music Session 3

We had another session with Grant from Ram Tam today where our class got to use a ukulele for the first time. We all had fun and Grant was very impressed with how well everyone did.

The P4’s have now successfully completed their swimming sessions for the year. They have all really enjoyed attending the lessons at the swimming pool and have worked hard to develop their skillset.

P5 Personal Projects/Sharing the Learning with P5N

During the P4 swimming sessions over, the Primary 5’s in our class have been completing their own personal projects on a topic of their own choosing. They have been using different resources to help them find out interesting information and have now produced this on their own project posters. Today they shared their learning with each other and with the pupils from P5N. Well done P5’s!

Halloween – Thursday 31st October

As this day will be a swimming day for the P4’s in our class, it has been agreed that we will allow the P5/4M pupils to wear their Halloween costumes on Friday 1st November instead. This will prevent them missing out on the opportunity to dress up if they wish. If pupils do not wish to dress up then they can come to school in their regular uniform.

Term 1 Information

Term 1 – We have had a busy time during the last 7 weeks! From ice skating to walking tours of Dumfries to Wellbeing Wednesday activities to swimming… and that’s not even including all that we have learned in class too!
Here is a brief summary of all of the things that we have managed to fit in so far:

-We have been taking part in different activities during Wellbeing Wednesday. We enjoyed playing with our friends in other classes and having a go with construction building, arts and crafts, games, PE skills and a session on the iPads! We all got to choose where we wanted to go and who to play with and we all really enjoy spending time with people in different classes to us!

-We have gone on a class walking tour of Dumfries where we go to see lots of different landmarks. We worked in pairs to take lots of photographs of interesting buildings on the iPads and had a really enjoyable day. We saw lots of places including Burns House, St Michaels Church and graveyard and the oldest house in Dumfries!

We had a great time taking our own photos that we are then going to use in our PowerPoints that we will show off during our Sharing the Learning!

-Our class joined P5N and P4M to go for two ice skating sessions at the Ice Bowl. We had lots of fun playing with our friends and developing our confidence on the ice. We are hoping to go back again later on in the year!

-We have had our first two sessions with Ram Tam. Grant Dinwoodie has been in working with our class and P4M and we have looked at rhythm and pace. We have really enjoyed these fun sessions!

-Here are some more photos from our second session of Ice Skating
