Term 2
End of term 2
We had a busy last few weeks of term 2! We had our show to practice, parties and discos as well as making our puppets and performing our puppet shows! I hope you all have a happy and safe Christmas holidays!
‘Guess the Square’ Competition
We are running a competition to raise funds for the school.
If your child would like to take part in this competition, squares are £1 each and they will be on sale during the school day from Monday 2nd December until Friday 13th December (or until all squares are sold!)
The winning square will receive a Children’s Christmas stocking.
Pupils from P4M and P5/4M will come round each class every day to sell squares.

Biggar Puppet Theatre
We had a lovely time at Biggar Puppet Theatre. We enjoyed watching Aladdin, getting to meet the puppets afterwards and getting our picture taken with the puppets! The classes behaviour was excellent and they were super representatives of Laurieknowe!
Weeks 3 and 4
Over the last 2 weeks we have been working on adding 11 and 9 to 2 and 3 digit numbers using a jump strategy to help us. Our reading comprehension has focussed on finding information from the texts we have read. We have continued to enjoy country dancing and fitness circuits in PE. We enjoyed creating a puppet show for our finger puppets. In ICT we enjoyed using Microsoft word to practice our typing skills creating a document about ourselves. Some of us were able to change the style, size and colour of the text we had written! We also won the Healthy cup this week for the first time this year!
Week 2
This week we have continued to work on developing our confidence with mental addition. We have been working on adding 10 and 100 to 1, 2, 3 and 4 digit numbers. We continued to work on connectives in grammar and our reading comprehension focus this week was understanding the meaning of new words in the texts we have read. In PE we enjoyed starting Scottish dancing with Mrs Windsor and fitness circuits. We have also shown resilience and patience during ICT this week when using Laptops for the first time this school year. They took a very long time to log on for some of us! As part of our puppets topic we have started designing our own finger puppets.
Week 1
We had a lovely first week back in school last week. We started looking at addition in maths and have been working on our double facts. We also started looking at money and identifying different coins/notes. We have been continuing our work on using connectives in grammar this week and started focussing on our comprehension skills in reading. We enjoyed taking part in some Halloween activities including telling our own jokes, writing instructions for carving a pumpkin and making up stories with our Halloween Finger puppets. We enjoyed putting on our first puppet shows on Friday!

Sponsored Walk
We enjoyed our Sponsored walk with P3DW! We had lots of fun and enjoyed having a play at the park after completing our walk!
Numeracy and Maths
This term we have been learning about place value, ordering numbers, rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100 as well as 2D and 3D shape. We have also been working on our mental addition and subtraction skills.
