P2L – Mr Laidlaw

Welcome to our class page for Primary 2.

Robert Burns Theatre Trip

On Tuesday 12th November, the class will be visiting the Robert Burns Theatre to take part in the Into Film Festival. We will be watching Despicable Me 4 and then using this as a focus for our literacy tasks, for example, writing a film review. You should have received a letter home giving you all the key information but if you are unsure of anything, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Amongst our day to day activities in class, the pupils love the opportunity to explore with a range of loose parts materials. The class are very inventive and imaginative, building, creating and practicing lots of social skills at the same time.

Pupil of the Week

Each Friday we have awarded Pupil of the Week to someone who has stood out from the crowd, been successful, kind or particularly helpful to their peers. These are our award winners so far in P2.

Pupil of the week winner for Friday 1st November

Well done Jonah for working hard to complete all your tasks this week! We are all proud of you.

Food Chains

This term the class have been learning all about Food Chains and the lifecycles of some animals. The pupils have loved exploring our environment around our school to find examples of producers, consumers and predators. The pupils have had a go at making their own food chains too.

These are the food chains we created…

Numeracy

This term we have focussed on revising our number bonds and skills from P1 as well as learning about time and doubles up to 20. I’ve added a link to a doubles game that the children can try at home. There will be more links and photos to come in this section.

Literacy

Children will be given their homework packs out on a Monday. They will have their new reading book, reading journal and their spelling words to practice for the week.

Please bring the homework pack in on a Wednesday so that we can read in class with our groups. The homework packs should then be returned on a Friday so that new words and books can be prepared. Many thanks.
