More learning

Another busy week has past and I have had very little time to take photos of our learning!

We have been continuing our phonics learning around magic e words and finished up last week with u-e (huge brute). We enjoyed sharing our knowledge on show me boards and in our jotters, where we are extending our ability to hold a sentence then write it using different skills.

In writing we linked our learning to our topic by writing about the funny bones story, remembering and sequencing the events that happened.

In grammar lessons we moved on to learning about verbs, again linking this to our topic by matching verbs to different body part pictures.  The children were extremely focused and determined during this activity!

In Maths lessons we continued with our daily number challenge and added days of the week and months of the year to help us embed our already learned knowledge of knowing and ordering these.

We also continued our work on fractions, consolidating our knowledge of halves and quarters and for some extending this to thirds and fifths. We were challenged by being given odd numbers to share and had to explain how we would solve this so that we were still sharing equally.

With Mrs Given on Friday we were learning about money, naming coins and ordering them in relation to their value.

The children were also excited to receive their sumdog logins that you will find in the back of their homework jotters. I can see that some children are accessing the site already. In class we are working through the diagnostic test, which records the children’s progress and then sets the games at a level that will provide appropriate challenge for their individual skills and knowledge.
