Week 2

We have had another fun filled week in Primary 2, with lots of play and lots of learning too.  In mathematics and Numeracy, we have been working on our numbers to 100, ordering and sequencing and developing our before and after skills. We have also been consolidating our knowledge of naming 2D shapes and discussing their properties.  In Literacy we have been revising our phonics, working with syllables and rhyme, reading and spelling simple words and writing about the 3 little pigs. For topic, we have been investigating the strengths of different house building materials, where we built houses out of straw, sticks and stones, and tried to blow them down like the big bad wolf!  As we play and learn, we have been building lots of different houses and carrying out lots of role play around the 3 little pigs story, using puppets. We have also been developing our friendships, our ability to share and work together through role play in the home corner and building together using the construction materials. Some children have also been retelling our daily story to one another and playing schools. Teachers in the making!
