We Can Do It!

We have come to the end of another busy week!

Our week started with an Assembly on Monday about having a growth mind set, something we are trying to have everyday.

We took part in a drum workshop on Thursday it was great fun.  Here are some photos from the workshop.

We had our first (official) Show and Tell of the term.  Mrs Given was really impressed by how confident everyone was.  This week we found out about special holidays, horse riding,  diamonds, sleepovers and moon rocks!

During reading and writing lessons this week we have been learning about story settings.  Our class novel, Charlotte’s Web had a fantastic description of the Zuckerman’s barn where Wilbur the pig lives.  We highlighted the key words from the book, drew a detailed picture and then wrote our own story settings.

Finally for this week, here are a few pictures to show us learning in a variety of ways.

Have a lovely weekend.

Briarlands Farm and Sports Day

Primary 2 have had a very busy week.

On Tuesday we went to Briarlands Farm for our school trip and to learn more about Food and Farming.  Farmers Katie and Rob told us all about growing strawberries and the animals in the farm.  We even got to feed some lambs, chickens and guinea pigs.  One of the highlights was finding out that 14 piglets had been born the night before.  On our tractor ride, Rob stopped the tractor and we were allowed to get off to pet one of the piglets.  They were so cute.  On top of this we were on go carts, jumpy pillows, finding our way out of mazes and playing in the sand.  It was a fabulous day!

On Thursday it was our school sports day.  We were working in our House Teams and trying our best.

Thank you to our families who came along to cheer us on.

Just a little reminder to look and sign your child’s Golden Diary and remember that homework should be handed in on Thursday.

Have a lovely weekend.

We started off this week with a lovely visit from Rigby the puppy who belongs to Esme and her family.  Esme told us all about Rigby and what she has to do to look after him.  Rigby was very well behaved and we enjoyed getting a little pat and a cuddle.

On Thursday we had a visit from P6 who helped us enjoy some reading time together.  It was lovely to see both the older and younger children read together.

We have been working with Mrs Johnstone again this week.  We were very busy in the school’s vegetable garden and helped to plant some vegetables.  We can’t wait to watch them grow.

Our final photos this week are of some very proud members of P2M showing their creative work ….

Please remember to look for Golden Diaries inside red folders and sign them, thank you.

Finally we have a new P2M class motto:

“We are more than friends, we are a team!”  This was said during a discussion and we just love it.  Thank you Esme.

Have a lovely weekend.

A Busy Start to May

Wow! We can’t believe it’s May already!

This week at Soft Start we have been working with our friends at a variety of activities.  One of our favourites was playing Farm Bingo.  We have also been developing our cutting skills and enjoying some time in the shared area.

We are very lucky to be working with Mrs Johnstone over the next few weeks to learn more about our school gardens, planting and learning about what plants need to grow as part of our Food and farming topic.

Today we were measuring the height of some of the plants in our planters.  Fertiliser is going to be added to one of the planters so we are going to watch carefully to see what difference this makes.  We knew our knowledge about measuring would come in handy!

Our Golden Diaries are in our bags today.  Please have a look and sign it before returning them back to school on Tuesday.  We have been working really hard this week and deserve lots of praise!

Enjoy the long weekend!
