Outdoor Learning – Forest Schools
Some primary 7 pupils have been enjoying Forest School sessions with Cat, Hollie (Our parent helper) and Mrs Robertson. In the woodland setting, they have been successfully working together in a range of different ways e.g. shelter building, fire lighting, tool work, risky play, nature connection and exploration. The pupils are developing personal skills, knowledge and understanding within these experiences too. All classes are now taking part in the National Writing Programme. Pupils have targets to work towards in their writing (e.g. focus on punctuation, openers) Pupils, alongside the teacher, edit and discuss their work. The teachers track the progress of the pupils and work towards new targets throughout the session.Dates for the Diary

As part of our ongoing work about the curriculum at Deerpark, pupils and parents have identified skills development as a priority. As a result of this we have begun ‘Master classes’ on a Friday afternoon. All learners have an opportunity to ‘sign up’ to a variety of Master classes to provide opportunities for skills development within the school day. Some P7 learners have provided reports about their master classes: Mindfulness – ‘In my Master Class we learn how to be calm and relaxed by doing things that make us feel happy.
