Today P2S found out their new context for learning – Scottish Landmarks, but Miss Stark didn’t make it easy for them!
The children had to work with a partner to put together lots of different puzzle pieces. Each pair had a different picture and the children had to figure out what all the pictures had in common!
The children took a look around at all of the different finished pictures. They had lots of ideas for what our new context might be!
P1M are learning how to add and subtract within 10 and beyond. Each day pupils participate in different activities and this week they need to decide whether the question is asking them to add or subtract. Pupils are encourage to use different tools to help them add and subtract such as cubes, their fingers and number lines.
Remember to continue to practice the number facts at the back of the red reading folders. This will help you get quicker at recalling different facts.
P1M are becoming much more confident when using the netbooks and they are trying really hard to logon independently. Ā This week the class were set a challenge to use the Paint programme to create a detailed picture of a robin. This is because we are learning the poem ‘Robin Reidbreist’ and we have learned all about robins too. Have a look at some of our super pictures.
As part of their Italian Context for Learning, P4W looked at lot of different Italian fashion houses and brands. We decided to create our own fashion houses, design a piece of clothing and think about what materials we could use to make our designs come to life. We used lots of different things including black bin bags, ribbon, paper cups, cardboard boxes, pipe cleanersĀ and lots and lots and lots of sticky gems! Don’t they look fantastic?!
On Thursday P1 had their Christmas party and they all had a brilliant time. P1 have all worked hard to learn the Flying Scotsman, the Hokey Cokey and the Birdie Dance.
P1 all looked very smart in their party clothes. They played pass the parcel, musical statues and musical bumps. What super dancers we have in P1!
P1 went on a Google expedition to the North Pole. The pupils got to use a mobile phone to view different scenes in a virtual reality adventure. When they lifted the phone up or moved the phone from side to side they got to view a different part of the scene. P1 got to see Santa’s Grotto, the stables where he keeps his reindeer, his workshop and Santa on his sleigh.
What a great experience! Thanks Google Expeditions!
Today Elvis challenged us to work as a team and build a Christmas tree using green plastic cups. We had lots of great ideas during our brainstorm session and we tried lots of different ways to make it work.
The green group worked so well as a team and managed to complete the challenge first.
To make it even more difficult Miss Stark toldĀ the class to try again – but this time they weren’t allowed to touch the cups with their hands! The children very quickly came up with a number of solutions.
