What is the structure of the school day?

  • Breakfast club: 8.30 – 9.00am
  • School starts at 9.00am
  • Morning break is 11.00 – 11.15am
  • Lunch is 12.45 – 1.30pm
  • School finishes at 3.00pm

 

What do I do if I need to pay money for dinners, milk, trips etc?

All monies should be paid via Parent Pay. Abercromby is now a cashless school. For more information please ask at reception.

 

What does my child need to wear to school?

There are black and grey sweatshirts and white and black polo shirts with the school logo on them.  They can also wear a shirt and tie if they want to. They should wear black or grey trousers or skirt.

 

What does my child need for P.E?

  • A pair of shorts
  • A house coloured t-shirt
  • A spare pair of socks
  • A pair of gym shoes
  • The children come to school dressed for PE on their PE days! 

 

What if my child can’t come to school?

Sometimes if your child is not well, they may need to stay at home in bed. If this happens, please contact the school via telephone. Once your child is feeling better, please write a letter to their teacher explaining why they were absent.

If your child needs to attend an appointment, please send a letter to your child’s teacher previous to the appointment.

If your child is running late for school, please telephone the school to let us know.

 

What if my child is hurt or becomes unwell at school?

If your child falls or injures themselves they will be seen by a trained First Aider and you will be called if necessary.

If your child becomes unwell and needs to be sent home, you will be contacted by the school office.

 

What happens at assembly?

Assemblies and House meetings happen on a Friday morning.

At assemblies we:

  • Sing songs
  • Listen to stories and talk about making the right choices
  • Share our successes in school
  • Celebrate our out of school achievements
  • Listen to classes sharing their learning

 

How do I find out more about my child’s learning?

There are lots of opportunities for children to share their learning with you. These are:

  • Class Dojo
  • Class information letters
  • Open evenings
  • Family Learning  & Family fun events
  • Learning Conversations (November and March)
  • Home Learning tasks
  • My Year of Learning Report
