P4W have been busy!

P4W have started their final term before our summer holidays with a bang! We visited Stirling Castle to round off our previous Context for Learning on Castles, we had a great day! Check out some of our pictures below:

This term, our new Context for Learning is the Human Body! We had to work together as team to put together different clues to figure out what it could be. We then completed our plan and thought about what things we would like to learn.  We decided we want to find out why we have a funny bone, how we laugh, how we breathe and lots more!

So far, we have had a look inside our bodies at all of our internal organs. Look at some of our pictures below when we pretended to be surgeons and put our classmates back together!:

In Numeracy this term, we’ll be focusing on measuring, angles, position and movement and our multiplication tables. In Literacy, we will be looking at different punctuation in our sentences and improving our WOW words in our imaginative stories. We’ll also be using our Context for Learning to write reports and instructions on how to keep ourselves fit and healthy. We will also be taking part in different STEM activities to do with the Human Body and learning some more French before the end of the school year.

As 2018 is the year of the World Cup, P4W have also decided to have a mini-Context for Learning about Russia 2018. We will have a country who are taking part in the World Cup this year to research and will take it in turns to report on the different games that have taken place. We’re sad that Scotland didn’t qualify this year!

Prada-ful P4W!

P4W rounded off their recent Context for Learning on Italy by learning about Italian fashion designers and creating our own designs! Miss Wozniak also bought us some Italian food to taste!

We found out about some famous Italian designers including Prada, Gucci and Versace. We then worked in a group to create an item of clothing using recyclable materials and some special sparkly items!

Millie’s group designed a dress.
Team Sheep!

We had a variety of dresses, tops, football strips, belts, handbags, shoes and even a hoodie!

Team MMC!

Cole & Lewis worked hard to create a boot out of cardboard boxes.
It was made to measure Cole’s foot!
Kieran & Liam made a shoe out of cardboard and paint.
Jack worked hard to create a cosy hoodie out of a bin bag!
Amber’s team even had a song to go with their dress!

Once we presented our designs to our classmates, it was time to taste some Italian food! Miss Wozniak also brought in some of her favourite Italian foods from home including espresso coffee, amaretto biscuits, some different shapes of pasta and biscotti.

We tried lots of different foods. We had some ciabatta bread, breadsticks, two different types of salami, cheese (including mozzarella!) tomatoes and olives. Olives were not a popular choice!

P4W’s Italian feast!

Amber & Danielle loved tasting the different Italian cheeses.
Boyd LOVED salami. It was gone in a flash!!
Cole braved tasting the olives…. but wasn’t a fan!
Darren & Max enjoyed the Parma Ham!
Niamh C & Louisa enjoyed tasting new foods.
Millie liked the bread the best!
Miss Wozniak’s fancy Amaretti biscuits.

We loved learning all about Italy. Our favourite parts of this Context were learning some Italian words, learning about the Leaning Tower of Pisa and creating lots of fantastic artwork with Mr Gough and Miss Wozniak.

We can’t wait to find out what our new Context for Learning will be!

Sorting Ceremony

As part of our Context for Learning – Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone. P7S held a sorting ceremony to place pupils into one of the  4 Hogwarts house teams: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

In our houses the first task was to design a  shield that represented our house. We had to use our house colours and include two words used to describe the characters of our house in the Sorting Hat song.

Gryffindor
Slytherin
Ravenclaw
Hufflepuff

Please feel free to leave us a comment and let us know what you think of our designs!

All About Italy!

Primary 4 have recently been learning about Italy as part of our Context for Learning.

As part of our homework, we were asked to create an information poster or PowerPoint on Italy with lots of interesting facts about the country. We then presented our work to our classmates, who took the challenge of being the teacher and gave us feedback!sam_0930 sam_0931 sam_0932 sam_0933 sam_0934 sam_0935 sam_0936 sam_0937 sam_0938 sam_0939 sam_0940 sam_0941 sam_0942
