All pupils study Music in S2 and can then opt to take music as an option during S3 to S6.  There are also Music Elective options available for both S1 and S2 pupils:

 S1 WORLD MUSIC ELECTIVE
Pupils are involved in studying various world music instruments and forming their own samba band.
S2 ROCK SCHOOL ELECTIVE
Pupils are involved in building skills on rock band instruments and working together in small groups to form their own rock band.

S2 MUSIC COURSE
Pupils are involved in performing, inventing and listening activities. At the beginning of the course they build up skills on a variety of instruments including Keyboard, Tuned Percussion, Guitar, Bass Guitar and Drumkit.

S3/4 STANDARD GRADE
Pupils are involved in building skills on two chosen instruments which they can play solo or in a group. They also do listening and inventing activities.

S5/6 NATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Pupils have the choice to sit at Int 1, Int 2, Higher or Advanced Higher depending on their previous experiences and/or ability. The courses demand that they play 2 instruments, compose a folio of compositions and do various listening activities. Advanced Higher candidates are also expected to research into 2 pieces of music and present an Analytical Commentary of around 2000 words.
