Welcome

The Faculty of Art, Design and Technology embraces a wide range of subject areas from expressive fine arts and graphic design to workshop crafts, electronics, control technology and 3D computer modelling. Creativity and design features highly across all the experiences that learners are engaged in. The Faculty’s teachers have a high level of expertise and subject knowledge.  They have high aspirations for their students, dedicating themselves out-with normal classes and achieving strong academic results.

Students are encouraged to be active participants in classroom learning and to attend organised lunchtime and after school Faculty and whole-school activities.  Given appropriate support and resource, they are encouraged to develop independence, taking the initiative to progress in classes with minimal direction. This is particularly noticeable with certificate classes.  There is a purposeful ethos in classes.  Complementing this, is the time that colleagues spend with individual pupils giving  feedback, having dialogue about learning and demonstrating specific skills or techniques.  Relationships between staff and pupils are positive with pupils commenting very favourably about the support, can-do attitude and mutual respect that exist.
