Almost everything was sold ! The girls who were helping sell the P1 fatballs made up a motto “save the birds, buy a fatball”

Well done to everyone who took part; it was greatly appreciated.

These are the things that were available:

felt badges, fat balls, homemade bags, sweetie cones, candle holders, cards, bookmarks, nail painting, decorations, tattoos and many other things.

The raffle was a big success.

Talented Composers

Some budding composers from P4 had their musical compostions played by the Isla Quartet at a concert at the Tin Hut on Saturday 16th November.

The concert was recorded by BBC Radio 3, so their compositions will be heard all over the country!

Mr Main, specialist music teacher at the primary school had been asked to get a group of children to compose some short pieces of music for the Quartet to play.

A quartet is a group of 4 musicians. The Isla Quartet consists of 2 violins, a viola and a cello. They played work by Mendelssohn and local composers David Ward and Ronald Center.

Well done to Aidan, Alanah, Alasdair, Alasdair, Annie, Bente, Caitlin, Charis, Finn and Paige for your compositions.

Fairtrade

At the Fairtrade council we have all noticed that there Ā was not as many Fairtrade products in the supermarkets as there were a few years ago.
So some people from Fairtrade groupĀ have Ā agreed that they will go round the supermarkets an some local shops to see who has the most Fairtrade products. We have made a list of things we should think there should be in the supermarket such as
bananas
coffee
tea
sugar
and a few more things.
we think there should be a trophy for the shop with the most Fairtrade products in it. We will have a meeting in a few weeks to see what we found out.

Tree Planting

Last week we planted trees. We left the school at 10 o’clock and walked to the meadows. On the way we saw tiny rabbits. We finally got to the amazing meadows. First we had to get gloves from a man with a black bag. Then we got into groups and we all planted tiny trees. Next we all got to see everyones trees. Me and Annie planted a tree together and we named it Smeagall. We all had a marvellous time and we really did not want to go back to school. As time went on we got to have our play piece. Just before we went went we quickly got to plant one last tree. Then we walked all the way back to school.

Halloween Crafts

Last Thursday Mrs Chalmers and Mrs Pettitt came into school to help P4B finish their crow masks.

The children decorated their masks with black feathers and glitter. They looked very effective!

The class then sang the scottish song “Three Craws sat upon a wa’. ”

Thank you Mrs Chalmers and Mrs Pettit for coming in to help us.

Halloween Fun.

Primary 4B have been making crow masks that could be worn at the Halloween parade that is taking place this Saturday.

The theme of the Halloween festivities this year is “On the back of the North Wind”, named after a book by the famous Huntly writer George McDonald.Ā  Crows feature often in his stories. Crows (or Corbies) will be appearing at the parade, along with the Huntly Pipe Band.

Mrs Chalmers came into school last week to help P4B make the masks. They will be decorated with feathers.

Huntly Castle Trip

P4b were taken on an exciting tour of Huntly

Castle last week.

The Junior Tour Guides led them down to the castle and told them about the history of the castle, how the different rooms were used and about life in the castle 700 years ago.

Primary 4 admired the beautiful frontispiece on the doorway of the castle, and learnt why some of it is missing. They were told what a mason’s mark is and saw one on the doorway.

Next they saw the dungeons and were toldĀ about the poor prisoners who were thrown in them.

After that they visited the kitchen and then the great hall. They P4s enjoyed playing a game called “Cooks Coming”.

After their tour the P4’s had to say one thing they had learnt on their tour.

The tour guides did an excellent job of showing the class around the castle. Thank you !

SCOTLAND

The P4 classes has been learning about Scotland. The p4sĀ have been making Highland cows out of clay. They have also been learning about Scottish industries such as farming, energy production and forestry. There will be lots more fun activities for them.
