Talented Composers

Some budding composers from P4 had their musical compostions played by the Isla Quartet at a concert at the Tin Hut on Saturday 16th November.

The concert was recorded by BBC Radio 3, so their compositions will be heard all over the country!

Mr Main, specialist music teacher at the primary school had been asked to get a group of children to compose some short pieces of music for the Quartet to play.

A quartet is a group of 4 musicians. The Isla Quartet consists of 2 violins, a viola and a cello. They played work by Mendelssohn and local composers David Ward and Ronald Center.

Well done to Aidan, Alanah, Alasdair, Alasdair, Annie, Bente, Caitlin, Charis, Finn and Paige for your compositions.

Learning Council

The motto that they came up with was – ‘Everybody has a Voice’!

The votes for the school motto have been overwhelming! Parents’ views were sought by some of the children at the Parents Evenings, and almost 100% were in favour of a motto!

Before the October Holidays, Dennis Robertson came into Gordon Primary to answer some of the questions that the council had came up with! They found out a lot of information about how to run a council, it was very successful!

Art Exhibition

Gordon Primary School were recently asked to contribute to an art exhibition at the Gartly community hall , known as “The Tin Hut”.

Artwork by Lauren, Abbie, Isla and Aidan from P5B was selected. The colourful landscapes in oil pastel that the children had done with Mrs Wills, was exhibited over the first weekend of the October break. The pictures were greatly admired by visitors to the exhibition. Hopefully the school can contribute to the exhibition in future years.
