Huntly Express
When we walked along the river Deveron there was a lot of people who stepped in dog mess. The next week we wrote a letter to the Huntly Express. They were so interested they came to the school. Five lucky people got in the Huntly express and they are Ross, Caitlin , Charis ,Emily and Harvey. Pat Scott interviewed us because its disappointing that there is so much dog mess in Huntly. She put it on the front page because it was disgraceful and we want Huntly to be a cleaner place. By Ross & Peter
Balhousie Open Day
On Friday 20th of June p4b are going to Balhousie for the open day. We are going with our class but our parents and grandparents are coming to admire our work. The butterflys are beautiful and I think they will brighten up the place.
The care home looks wonderful with all the butterflies. We will be singing two songs; “I went to the cabbages”and “Downtown”. We are all having our face painted but only if our parents give us permission. We are all looking forward to be going to Balhousie.

Inter-Schools Commonwealth Games
On Monday 16 th June 2014 p4b and p4a did our own commonwealth games with other local schools. The schools included were Rhynie, Gartly, Forgue and so on. Our country was Northern Ireland and some of the other countries were Australia, South Africa and Malta . We had great time! Our team did not win but we did well. The Javelin was my favourite. I threw it so far so it went past both of the cones!

Balhousie Visit
On the 4th of June on Wednesday the whole of p4b went on a trip to Balhousie.
At the care home we made butterflies and worked with the residents who joined in with making them butterflies.
We used different techniques to decorate our butterflies, such as paint, finger painting, tissue paper and collage. They are going to be hung up on the wall in Balhousie, but were going to continue with our art work next week.

P7 Drugs Awareness and Internet Safety Talk
Both Primary 7 classes had a Policeman in to talk to them about Internet Safety and Drugs Awareness! Both classes are currently doing revision on Living and Growing, and looking at other areas of the topic.!
They learnt about some of the many different types of drugs and how some can be used in medicines and some can be illegal and can seriously harm people. They learnt about how some drugs can slow down your brain and how you react to things, some can speed up your brain and make you more alert and how some can make you hallucinate!
In the second talk the policeman told the class about Internet Safety, he told them that not selecting private on social networking sites is a bit like putting a sign in your garden with your personal details on it and leaving your front door open and allowing anyone to walk into your house and look at your photos, bedroom etc.
The Primary 7’s really enjoyed the talk and found it very interesting!

P7 Felting
A couple of weeks ago, Primary 7 invited in Rhoda Bain, a felter who has made hats and various items for the Linden Tree (a local shop in Huntly).
Primary 7 have been studying St Kilda this term and were learning about the St Kildans clothing, they decided to find out about felting! The class dyed some wool to use and Rhoda brought in some of her own.
Firstly a group started carding the sheeps fleece, they would then hand it over to the felters, they would then place all the wool they gathered and arrange it on a bamboo sheet, when they were satisfied they covered it in water and rubbed soap into it! They then rolled the bamboo sheet up and rolled it back and forth 20 times, they continued these steps until the wool was firmly stuck together.
Another group were covering pebbles in wool, firstly they chose 2 colours of wool and wrapped them both around the pebble, they then wrapped silk around it, they dunked it in a basin of hot water with olive soap in it and squirted some fairy liquid on top, they then wrapped it in bubble wrap and squeezed it for 15 – 20 minutes!
The Primary 7 Pupils enjoyed their time with Rhoda and hope for her to return to do the same thing with next years class!
Pictures coming soon…

P4 Library Visit
P4b went to the library to learn about gladiators or markets for our Roman project. We learned a lot about the gladiators and markets. Most boys chose to study gladiators and most girls studied markets. We all wrote some interesting facts and learned more from each other. We are enjoying doing Romans. We also wrote about the gladiators and markets and made our own villa. We had to choose a book and find the right information. After that we could look around the library. It was a big library for Huntly. Some of the people looked at some very interesting books. The people that worked in the library talked about getting a library card. Some of the people chose very interesting books. After a while William came back from the weekend with a library card that the workers at the library were talking about. We had a fun time at the library when we were searching for information about gladiators and markets. If you haven’t been to Huntly library then I think you should go to the library. You can borrow and use books, talking books and DVDs. There are non – fiction books and fiction books. When it was time to go we didn’t want to leave. We had a brilliant time.
