The Wee Sleep Out Sumdog maths contest starts on 2nd November

How do I enter my class?

Our maths contests are completely free. You can enter your class by clicking here.

Simply select the class/classes you would like to enter into the contest.

How do pupils take part in the contest?

On the contest start date, your pupils will see the name of the contest on their Activity panel. They will need to have this selected to take part in the contest. They then just need to answer the questions and play the games as normal. Each correct answer will equal 1 point.

How do the contests work?

All the questions are adapted to the pupil, so everyone has an equal chance of winning. There is a maximum number of questions per pupil, and results are based on accuracy, so even if you can only get on the computers for a short period of time your class can still be a winner! Pupils can also take part and answer questions on their own devices outside of school hours. Questions will reflect what you teach in class as they are curriculum-aligned.

How does Sumdog know which questions to ask each pupil?

When pupils first use Sumdog will do a diagnostic test to place them at their level. Once they have completed the diagnostic test, their answers contribute to the contest. We recommend pupils start practising now so the questions have adapted in time for the contest.

What is the Wee Sleep Out?

Following the success of last year’s Sleep in the Park, Social Bite has launched the Wee Sleep Out for 8 – 16 year olds to raise funds and awareness in the fight to end homelessness as part of Scotland’s Year of Young People 2018.

Schools can organise their very own Wee Sleep Out (which can be done indoors) whenever is best for their community, though most are taking place across the country on November 9th. Children are not asked to contribute any donations themselves. There is no registration fee or minimum fundraising target for Wee Sleep Out – it’s the taking part that counts!

Are there prizes?

The winning class will receive a tent and a trophy presented by Social Bite’s founders, and runners-up will also receive special camping prizes.

The top 3 classes win a subscription to Sumdog’s premium teaching tools! There are also participation awards and certificates for top students.
