Imagining Aberdeen

Three hundred children from Bramble Brae PrimaryManor Park PrimaryRiverbank Primary and Tullos Primary are Imagining Aberdeen as a place where children are healthy, happy and safe. Children have been considering life in the community, at home and at school and exploring the idea of human dignity. Soon 20 of these children – our Imagineers – will take part in a Mural Project which captures children’s vision for the city.

Investigates

Children’s Parliament Investigates…

Through the lens of children’s human rights children from 8 schools across Edinburgh are exploring what children need to be healthy, happy and safe at home, school and in the community. In each school a team of CP Investigators are exploring children’s perspectives on bullying. Their ideas and investigations will be shared with the City of Edinburgh Council to help influence the Council’s understanding of bullying in schools.

Check our Twitter feed (@AngusChildren) over the next week or so for some of our good news stories. #AngusSuccess

We discussed the importance of protecting personal data. If you use personal data, you are responsible for it – everywhere and at all times.

In a few weeks we’ll have an opportunity to showcase some our work to colleagues from across Tayside and Fife. We’ll be highlighting aspects of performance management, quality improvement and strategic leadership. There are good things happening in Angus. Maybe we should share some of the information here as well. What do you think?

Giant Walk for Schools – June 15 2016

posted by Lesley Eaton, School Travel Administrator, Schools and Learning

BrakeRoadSafety

Thousands of children across the UK set off from their school gates in June 2015, celebrating the wonders of walking by taking part in Brake’s Giant Walk.

This annual event is a fantastic way for children to put their best feet forwards for road safety: to say “yes!” to the health and planet-saving benefits of walking, and “no!” to fast driving that threatens children’s safety. The UK has a poor record for protecting children on foot and bike compared to many European neighbours. Half our children are driven to school, increasing pollution, danger and damaging health.
