✨P1-3 have been learning about how to stay safe online. We watched some videos called The Adventures of Karen, Winston and the SMART Crew. Then we made an infographic of our learning.
Balancing Screen Time
The Orange Cog
✨As part of Our Children Their Nurturing Education journey Mrs Morris works with the boys and girls at a whole school assembly and introduces them to the emotion works cogs. The first cog they learnt about was the orange cog- emotion words. The boys and girls come back to class to do a follow up activity on emotion words! We could remember lots of emotion words and with some help from the teacher put them in a word art emoji. 🐾 Now we are going to learn about what body sensations we feel when we experience different emotions.
Weather Instruments
✨Primary 1-3 have been very busy learning about the weather and climate. They have been learning about the different instruments used to measure the weather and so decided to make their own wind sock! P2 and 3 learnt about the compass points and we tested our wind socks to see which direction the wind was coming from! 🐾 Next Steps – Measure and record the weather.
CRIS in P1/2
#
Today we listened to Miss McKerrell reading a story from the active board. The story was called Digiduck and the Big Decision. In the story, digiduck learned that it can be upsetting to make fun of your friends online even when you think it’s just a joke. After the story we had a talk about when things pop up on our screens and what we should do about it. Then we drew a picture of one of the characters from the story.
Capacity in P1/2
Today Primary 1/2 had lots of fun talking about the language of capacity! Full, empty, half full, nearly empty, nearly full.
Music Making in P1/2
We listened to music called ‘The Storm’ by Benjamin Britten. After lots of practice with the instruments we made our own composition of the storm from our story about the Loch Ness monster. Can you hear the storm get loud and then quiet again? We explored different rhythms and tried to add that in too.
Where does the weather come from? P1/2
Today P1/2 learnt about where some weather comes from. We learnt that water is always moving and can describe the water cycle. We even remembered some really big words like evaporate, condensation and atmosphere! We worked together to create a big water cycle for the class!
Remembrance Day
Today Primary 1/2 we’re learning about Remembrance Day with Miss Northcote. Then they worked together to make a beautiful poppy mosaic! At 11am they observed a 1 minute silence.
Harvest Time in BPS
P1/2 have been learning all about harvest. They have been busy picking brambles to make tasty bramble jelly to take home to their family.
Flying Kites
We have been exploring weather and to explore wind, we made our own kites. We discovered that if we climbed up high, our kites flew better!
Emotion Works
Primary 1 and 2 have been learning to use emotion words to describe what different characters are feeling throughout a story. We read Room on the Broom and used the emotion works symbols to help us to explain what each character is feeling.
Kapla Challenges
Primary 1 and 2 have been learning to work as a team through completing various Kapla challenges. We have to listen to all ideas to make sure that everyone feels valued, we must talk about all ideas before making a decision and make sure that everyone agrees.
Outdoor Learning
Primary 1 and 2 went on an outdoor adventure, they had to risk assess their surrounding area. We spotted slippery seaweed, wet stones, steep cliffs and very narrow paths and we talked about how to stay safe. We love problem solving and working as a team in our outdoor area.
Primary 1 & 2 Science
P1-2 have been very busy having fun with science, they have using their senses to make scientific observations. Science has been a great opportunity for us to develop our vocabulary and use describing words to make detailed observations.
