Taisbeanadh Dualchas Ìle
Tha sinn air a bhith ag ionnsachadh mu Dhualchas Ìle còmhla ri Tobar an Dualchais. Thàinig Floraidh is Raonaid dhan sgoil gus ar cuideachadh gus mapa cultair a dhèanamh. Dh’ionnsaich sinn mu Chalum Cille agus na Gille-brìghde, agus chleachd sinn gual-fhiodha gus ar n-ionnsachadh mu Ìle a chur air a’ mhapa. Chòrd e rinn a bhith ag ionnsachadh mu na sgeulachdan agus na h-àiteachan cudromach anns a’ choimhearsnachd againn.Chaidh an obair againn a thaisbeanadh aig an Ionad Ghàidhlig Ìle mar phàirt de Sheachdain na Gàidhlig, agus bha sinn moiteil ar n-ealain agus ar n-ionnsachadh a cho-roinn leis a’ choimhearsnachd. We have been learning about Islay’s heritage in partnership with Tobar an Dualchais. Floraidh and Raonaid came to the school to help us create a cultural map. We learned about St Columba and the Oyster Catchers, and we used charcoal to show our learning about Islay on our cultural map. We enjoyed learning about the stories and important places in our community. Our work is being displayed at the Islay Gaelic Centre as part of Seachdain na Gàidhlig, and we are proud to share our art and learning with the community. -

Today, P5/6 pupils took part in a Sports Leadership lesson where they worked in groups to design an exciting new game for younger pupils in Primary 1 to 3. They thought carefully about making the game fun, fair, and safe for everyone. They planned the rules, choose equipment, and made sure the instructions were clear. This experience is helping pupils build confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills. Next steps 🐾 pupils will play their games with P1-3 at break time next week

STEMOVATORS

Today, we explored renewable energy by designing and building our own hydropower stations as part of our STEMOVATOR project. Our young engineers investigated how water can generate electricity and power our world sustainability. We used a lot of problem-solving to figure out how to harness the power of water to generate electricity. 🌊♻️ Article 29: education should develop every child’s talents and abilities to the fullest potential well, encouraging respect for the environment.

Buidheann Eco
Tha clas G4-7 ag obair gu trang airson ar t-seachdamh bratach Eco.
Le Pippa Hannett G5– Thòisich an clas againn a’ dol timcheall an raon-cluiche agus a’ faighinn a-mach an àireamh de sgudal a tha anns an raon-cluiche. As dèidh sin, smaoinich sinn air na tha sinn dol a dhèanamh airson an sgoil agus sgudal a’ cumail sgiobalta. Rinn sinn foirm air Google Forms airson clas 5-7 gus na beachdan aca fhaighinn. Rinn sin grafan a tha a’ sealltainn ar rannsachadh airson matamataig. Chan eil poileasaidh againn airson sgudal agus feumaidh sinn fear cruthachadh.

Ag Ionnsachadh mu Costa na Mara ann an Ile/ P5/6/7 Learn about Islay’s Coast
This term the children in P5/6/7 along with G4-7 have been learning about ‘Islay’s Coast’ and the various types of rocks that surround the coastline. The children were able to identify sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks as well as describe their characteristics and uses.
Mr David Webster, a geologist, attended a trip to Bowmore Battery with the children where the children took part in different activities to deepen their knowledge and understanding.
They were able to make volcanic eruptions as well as create a timeline showing the age of different rocks. The children were then set a challenge to
create the map of Islay using natural resources. They were then asked to place the various rocks in the places they can be found on Islay.
A great day was had by all!
