A big thank you to Generation Science who came into school this afternoon to deliver some stimulating science activities. The children thoroughly enjoyed their role as scientists carrying out exciting hands on science activities. Thanks to our potion explosion specialists, the children explored concoctions and mixtures covering colours, changes and solutions. This provided the children with a real world application of science which showed science can be fun!

Scottish Food Workshop
A huge thank you to Keren Cafferty from the Puffer Bar and Restaurant, Easdale Island for coming into Easdale Primary School to show us how to make stovies and cranachan. The children and parent helpers enjoyed making and tasting these traditional dishes and are now looking forward to preparing and serving these at our end of term ceilidh next week.

Easdale Primary Pre 5 children raised a laugh this week. They were very busy making and icing cakes to sell in their Red Nose Cake Shop. The shopkeepers were a little scary as you can see from the photos. They raised a wonderful £24.
Visit to Easdale Primary from local artists
Easdale Primary welcomed local artists Alex MacRae and Mary Blackstalk into school on Tuesday afternoon to lead an afternoon of Art. They brought along examples of their work and talked about their painting styles and techniques. It was fascinating to watch them in action and hear what inspires them to paint. Burns Celebration at Easdale
On Wednesday the 23rd January we invited Parents and guests to join us in school to celebrate Burns. All children had learned a poem to recite in Scots dialect. We sang some amusing Scottish songs and playground rhymes which delighted the audience. This was followed by a traditional Burns lunch. The haggis was piped in and Brodie and George from Primary 7 gave the address. After the meal there was a Toast to the Immortal Memory and the Land we live in. Christmas Around the World
A big thank you to Bette, Federica and Doerte for coming along to Easdale Primary and sharing the Christmas traditions from their respective countries of Denmark, Italy and Germany. Dancing in Pyjamas
As part of their health topic Easdale Primary children planned a dance fit session with Mrs Lindsay McGhee. After having so much fun they invited Lindsay back for another session with a difference. Children, teachers and parents donned their pyjamas as part of the Blue Peter challenge to raise money for Children in Need. All took part in a series of dances and donations were collected. £79 was raised for Children in Need and lots of fun was had by all!
Football Crazy Day in Easdale School
Easdale Primary School were football crazy with a difference recently. After some divergent thinking about how we could use balls but not play a game of football the children planned a range of fun learning activities. The six mixed age groups from Pre 5 – P7 donned their designer t-shirts and explored maths, language, art and PE activities including time dribble, number ball, word shoot, roll the marble, ball art attack, coconut shy and dribble and shoot. At half time they enjoyed some football poems and learned a song called ‘Fitba Crazy’. Budding Authors in Easdale
Easdale Primary P4-7 enjoyed watching David Walliams during Author Live broadcasting event. This inspired them to create their own characters for David’s new book. Oban Lorn and the Isles Spring Tag Festival 2012
More than 150 Primary School children from the Oban area attended the recent Spring Tag Rugby Festival hosted by Oban Lorne RFC. The event which was organised by Scottish Rugby Modern Apprentices Emma Roxburgh and Fergus Matheson was delivered as an end of season friendly tournament for all the primary schools who have taken part in the Tag Rugby Programme this school year. The event was run in Partnership with Active Schools co-ordinator Dale Kupris and Rugby Development Officer Allan Wright who assisted with the organisation of the event.

Building bridges between Luing and Easdale Primary Schools
Easdale and Luing school communities are part of the shared head teacher pilot.
The children in the schools both requested an opportunity to work closer with their peer groups. The nursery children took the lead by taking a day out for a Teddy Bears Picnic in the ancient Hazel woods of Kilbrandon that stretch between the two schools. This was followed up with P4-7 joining forces for 3 days away with Stramash taking part in challenging team building activities, forging friendships for future learning opportunities.

Joint Sports Activities Day.
Children from Kilninver, Easdale and Luing primary schools came together for a sports activity day.
Following a day of activity the children won the tug of war hands down, pulling the teachers clean off their feet
We are sure they wouldn’t have managed it if there hadn’t been 80 of them.
