Pupils at St. Andrew’s Primary School treated their parents and parishioners to an afternoon of poetry, song, dance and art on St. Andrew’s Day. The celebration of teaching and learning was the culmination of a weeklong learning journey by each class exploring all things Scottish.
Primary 6/7 shared their learning about the life and times of our national bard, Robert Burns, and sang a beautiful rendition of Leezie Lindsay before encouraging school mates and parents to join in with the rousing Charlie is My Darling.

Strachur Primary Bring and Buy Sale
P6-7 held a Bring and Buy Sale in their classroom today and raised £93! This goes towards the P7 transition trip to Benmore next year. They will have the chance to bond with their future Dunoon Grammar peers. Thanks to all the families who donated items to sell. Well done P6-7 and Mrs Tato!
Bowmore’s Blast Off!
We have been studying space at Bowmore Primary and following Tim Peake! G4-7 used their 3D shape knowledge and built a rocket! P1/2 have made rocket packs to help boost them into space. P3/4 found Tim Peake’s space boots in their classroom along with moon dust footprints. P4/5 seem to spend a lot of time researching in their space station as do G1-3. P6/7 used an awful lot of paper to demonstrate the distance between the sun and the planets and the sun.
Mental Maths Success
Last week the pupils of Lochdonhead primary school took part in the Argyll and Bute ‘Sumdog’ competition. It is answering mental maths questions on a computer game. Every pupil has to try and answer 1000 questions in a week. We did a lot of playing at home too.

We are very proud of our P6-7 class for coming 3rd overall in Argyll and Bute in the Sumdog Maths Contest. Congratulations to them and their teacher, Mrs Tato. Isaac in Primary 6 also came third place out of all 290 students that took part. Well done Isaac!

St Andrew’s Day celebrations at Parklands
Pupils at Parklands had a fun-filled day on Monday to celebrate St Andrew’s day. They took part in a range of Scottish activities including Scottish ceilidh dancing, Scottish food tasting, a mini Highland games and a Scottish inventors challenge. In class pupils were learning about the life of St Andrew and some Scottish history.

Anti-Bullying Week at Strachur Primary
Pupils at Strachur Primary invited parents, carers and other family members into school on Friday of last week to share what we had been learning about Anti-Bullying. Visitors popped into classes to see our hard work, were asked to give their view on ‘bullying’ and asked how they feel staff at Strachur Primary should respond to it. This information will contribute towards the creation of a new Anti-Bullying Policy for Strachur Primary.
