Values

The “Value of the Month” for February was “Love” and Primary 1a and Primary 6a led us in our learning about this value with their class assemblies. Their drama sketches, songs and stories all helped us to reflect on this value together. Thank you to all who participated in these assemblies. The “Value of the Month” for March is “Fairness”.

Film Club

Film Club is back! The new group met for the first time this week and we got to know each other better by sharing the types of films we like to watch and our favourite film. We all have different tastes! The first film we are watching this term is The Borrowers and we will be writing reviews soon so we will let you know our thoughts!

IMG_0242 We have really enjoyed learning about the Chinese culture from Miss Sum.  This week we were learning about the traditions of the Chinese New Year.  We watched how to make beautiful sweet candy, and discovered how the New Year is celebrated with decorations and spending time with family.

We would like to thank Miss Sum for spending this time with us and wish her a very happy new year!

Visit to Scotland street Museum 036Today we were transported back in time and all we had learned about Magic Grandad’s School days came to life!!! We had a fantastic time experiencing school as it was for children who lived 80 years ago. We would encourage you to ask your child to share their favourite parts of the day with you as we are sure they will paint a far better picture than we ever could!!! Please enjoy the photos and videos attached.

Scientists in the making!

P7 had a visit from 2 JYHS science teachers to introduce the Cluster Science Fair which will be held on Thursday 19th March at 7pm. All children will have the opportunity to complete their own project/experiment at home and present their findings at the fair. They will be judged on their efforts by JYHS staff with prizes to be won. This is an optional task but we are sure that our creative P7 pupils will take on this challenge with enthusiasm. Good Luck everyone and enjoy!

Superheroes in P5

Superheroes have arrived in Primary 5! We are using the story-line approach in this topic. We started with a letter from Not-So-Super-Stan asking for our help. So far, we have been helping him to understand how a Superhero gets their powers, by designing fact files and comic strips.
