Primary 5

Our first full back in into the swing of Primary 5 and what a busy week it has been! Everyone has worked really, really hard this week and I am so proud of you all 🤩

We have been working really hard on our numeracy, learning about Bar and Line Graphs. Everyone has put so much effort into learning more about this numeracy topic and the graphs that have been created look great!

Our spelling and reading groups started up again this week! Everyone was given new reading books and hopefully, these have been out at home for reading practice. The best way to improve our reading skills is to read, read, read and our skills are coming along really well.
There was lots of fun had in PE doing Gymnastics with Mrs McMaster and, with Mrs Blair in RE we are going to ‘Make a Pound Grow’. This is part of our Religious Education Plan for this term, and we have decided that we will make our Lenten experiences positive by raising money for SCIAF (Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund).

We have also been learning lots this week for our IDL topic, ‘Living on Earth’ and have been researching about the Oceans, its different habitats and creatures found in all different places under the water, including Coral Reefs, Kelp Forests, Seamoss Meadows and the Marina Trench!

With it being Robert Burns’ birthday this coming week we were discussing his poems and writings, and also created a colourful display for our corridor.
Don’t forget Friday February 3rd, Primary 5 are leading the Mass with the theme being ‘Happiness.’ All are more than welcome to attend, to support us and participate in the service. We hope to see you there 😁

Tay Class are off to a great start in 2023…

It was lovely to see all of Tay Class in school again after the Christmas holiday.

The children were very keen to get playing with their favourite resources again.   Some of the children spent a while playing with the  coloured rice.  L especially liked the feel of the rice on her hands and feet. A and H did lots of filling and pouring.  C had fun dancing to Disney songs with Miss M.  A enjoyed building with the cubes.  L, A and C especially enjoy looking  and talking into our new mirror.

Primary 7 – A New Year!

Happy New Year!  We hope you all hade a great time over the festive period. We have had a busy first week back in P7.  This week we have been continuing to learn about the World War 2 home front effort.  At the end of last term we made little boxes that gas masks would be carried in.  This week we have been looking at what would happen during an airraid.  We are planning out models that we will be making of Anderson shelters.  We hope to get these started next week and use our knowledge of decimals and measuring to create scale models.

We have been also writing proceedurals during our writing time and have created recipes for war time carrot biscuits.  We hope to be making these biscuits next week.  We’ll let you know how they go.

Welcome back Primary 5!

Primary 1 – Nativity and Christmas Dinner

“WHOOPS-A-DAISY ANGEL”

We were all so proud of our Primary 1 STARS as they performed alongside P2 and P3 in this year’s Nativity, “Whoops-a-Daisy Angel“.  It was wonderful to have parents and family members in the school this year.  A huge ‘Thank you’ to those who were able to come along and support the children – it really was very special!

On Thursday, the children enjoyed a delicious school Christmas dinner.  Thank you to the ladies in the school kitchen who put on an amazing lunch for everyone.  It was extra special and felt very Christmassy!

Christmas Fun in P1

Advent has arrived and so has all the busy preparations in primary 1. We have been using our creative art skills to make a Christmas poster to display in the dining hall. We made paper plate angels and decorated them with glitter, doilies and feathers.

We have also been enterprising this week and making some crafts to sell at the Christmas Fayre. We made reindeer food and calendars. We went in to the woods for some special photos to use on our calendars.  We discussed how much money we think we should charge for each item. We hope you will love them enough to buy them at the Fayre. We had time to explore, climb and play.
