Our Friends in Ghana

This year Primary 7 have been taking part in a project called Friends for Wildlife.  We have been writing to children from Akwidaa in Ghana.  We have been telling them about our local wildlife and they have been sharing information about animals near where they live.  As part of the project we have set up motion capture cameras in the local area and have capture lots of pictures of deer, and there is one of a fox and some squirrels.  some of them are tricky to see can you spot all of the animals in the selection below?  You can click on the pictures below to zoom in.

We have been sharing letter with the children about life in the places where we live and the children have found it interesting to find out about the food, games and customs in Ghana.

We have been sent more letters and some posters of endangered animals where they live and have sent them posters of Basking sharks, otters, smooth newt and pine martins.  We will let you know what they have sent us posters on soon.

Primary 7 – A New Year!

Happy New Year!  We hope you all hade a great time over the festive period. We have had a busy first week back in P7.  This week we have been continuing to learn about the World War 2 home front effort.  At the end of last term we made little boxes that gas masks would be carried in.  This week we have been looking at what would happen during an airraid.  We are planning out models that we will be making of Anderson shelters.  We hope to get these started next week and use our knowledge of decimals and measuring to create scale models.

We have been also writing proceedurals during our writing time and have created recipes for war time carrot biscuits.  We hope to be making these biscuits next week.  We’ll let you know how they go.
