Primary 7 – 23.1.23

Primary 7 have been celebrating Burns Night with some Irn Bru and a wee bit of shortbread .  We have been learning our Burns poems and are preparing to perform them in front of the class next week.   The children were using the reading skills of clarifying and inference to try to work out what some of the words meant in the Burns poem ‘My Hoggie’.

In our World War 2 Home Front topic we have been

learning about ‘Make Do and Mend’  We have been knitting little dish cloths with some wool.  We are continuing to make little models of Anderson shelters,  We were very pleased with our war time carrot biscuits. We followed the instructions we wrote to make them.   They tasted much better that we thought and we couldn’t really taste the carrot.

We went down to P1 to support the work that they were doing in science.  We made push and pull vehicles as part on their learning about Forces.

Primary 7 – A New Year!

Happy New Year!  We hope you all hade a great time over the festive period. We have had a busy first week back in P7.  This week we have been continuing to learn about the World War 2 home front effort.  At the end of last term we made little boxes that gas masks would be carried in.  This week we have been looking at what would happen during an airraid.  We are planning out models that we will be making of Anderson shelters.  We hope to get these started next week and use our knowledge of decimals and measuring to create scale models.

We have been also writing proceedurals during our writing time and have created recipes for war time carrot biscuits.  We hope to be making these biscuits next week.  We’ll let you know how they go.
