Easter fun in P2

This week we have had lots of fun. We loved the lovely weather on Monday and went to the park whilst it was sunny. We had a great time and enjoyed playing with our friends.

As part of our Lenten fundraiser we made Easter nests. We loved crumbling the Shredded Wheat and mixing the chocolate. We even managed not to eat the chocolate whilst mixing which was very tricky.

We also had 2 furry visitors from the nursery in our class later this week. We loved having Muffin and Biscuit in the classroom the were very good at giving cuddles and eating their food.

A big thank you to Cody’s Gran who was very kind and knitted us all a bunny with a hidden egg inside it. It was very kinds and  we wish we could knit like that.

Have a lovely holiday!

St Mary’s Careers Fair is a huge success!

St Mary’s held a whole-school Careers Fair on Weds 22nd March in the hall. More than 25 local employers came along to speak to all pupils – from the Nursery to P7,  about what they did to help our young people think about their interests and next steps.

We had representatives from the Police, Fire, The Army, NHS, professional athletes, Network Rail, beauty, West Calder and St Kent’s High Schools Careers, hypnotherapy, law, Glasgow Kelvin College, the News and more. See the link below for our budding reporters!

We were so grateful to all our wonderful guests who took time out of their busy schedules to talk to our young people. Feedback from our pupils and guests was overwhelmingly positive! Let’s hope we can make this a regular occurance!

P1 Easter Craft Afternoon

To raise money for our Lenten Charity we decided we wanted to have an Easter Craft/ movie afternoon. This was a great success today. We made Pom Pom Easter Bunnies, Easter baskets which we filled with little chicks, we painted Easter eggs, made Easter cards, we made Spring pictures with stickers and foam shapes and we made scratch Easter pictures. We had fun being artistic and creative.

Primary 4

It has been a busy couple of weeks in Primary 4!

This week we have enjoyed the lent activities, the Easter fun fair was a big hit .

We also enjoyed the school career fair on Wednesday, chatting with all the different professionals, we were all very inspired.

Last week enjoyed a fun St Patrick’s day ☘️ we made Shamrock Shakes and had lots of fun.

In maths we have moved from measure to money and we have managed to tie in both areas in our class lent fundraiser which is guess the weight of the Easter basket. The winner will be announced next week ☘️

We have also been taking part in a technology project where we have worked together to build bridges from recycled materials. We have all enjoyed this challenge lots!

Lots of us are looking forward to bunny bingo tonight, good luck 🤞 to everyone going.

Cooking 🧑‍🍳 Club’s final week

It has been a great block of cooking club and we were all a bit sad that this was this blocks last week.

Over the weeks we have made a variety of savoury and sweet items and have learned many new skills while doing so. We have also enjoyed the opportunity to work with others across the school, making new friends.

This week we went with an Easter theme, we made conflate nest 🪺 cakes and iced biscuits 🍪. Again we had to use lists of skills to do this as well as having lots of fun!

Primary 2 update

What a busy few weeks we have had in P2.

Yesterday we enjoyed the Lenten funfair and took part in many of the activities. We particularly liked the throwing ones.

Today P1 joined us with some Easter art. We used different lines to create our rabbits and even gave them some glasses.

Lots of visitors and fun in P6 this week!

This week was a super busy one in P6! In numeracy we have been working on fractions and will soon see how they relate to decimals and percentages. Before that however we will learn about common denominators and continue to simplify.

In literacy we have started our new reading groups and have all received new books Over the coming weeks we will learn in more depth the roles of summarising, prediciting, clarifying and questioning.

We also made pancakes this week, which was great fun! They were delicious!

Finally we had some very special visitors in our class this week. On Friday we had Young Stem Leaders from St Kent’s who gave us a really interesting lesson on magnets and the expansion of the universe. Well done to Edward for sharing his learning with us and thank you to Mr Jack.

As well as this we also enjoyed having the guinea pigs in our classroom for three days. We learned how to clean out their cage, what to feed them and how to handle them. Biscuit and Muffin got lots of cuddles. All in all another brilliant week in P6!
