Well done to our next group of children who presented their Class Talks this week.  This term we are talking about our favourite fairytale.  This is an excellent opportunity to develop children’s talking and listening skills and we appreciate parent’s support with this task.

Ailsa – I liked making my poster.  I like Rumpelstiltskin.  I brought in the book too.

Lucy – I did a poster of Rapunzel and spoke about it.  Everyone liked it.

Charlotte – I liked talking and everyone listened,  I made a poster for it.

Another super afternoon with Primary 1 children leading class talks! It is amazing to see how much effort children are putting into this homework task – a huge thank you to parents and carers who are helping their children at home with this.  Children are delivering their talks with confidence!  We are definitely BUILDING FOR SUCCESS!  Well done Primary 1!

Today in Primary 1 we started our Class Talks.  Each week four children are chosen to prepare a talk which they do at home and then present to the class the following Thursday.  Children make posters at home to support them when delivering their talk.  The children presenting today were amazing and the class were excellent at listening and asking questions too.  Your child will be given a letter home when it is their turn to prepare their talk.

As a class, we decided the child talking should:

  • Use a loud and clear voice.
  • Look at the audience when speaking.
  • Share good information.
  • Answer questions well.

We reminded ourselves of how to display good listening:

  • Staying quiet.
  • Sitting still.
  • Listening to all of the words.
  • Looking at the person who is talking.
