This week in primary 7 we have been practicing for our Christmas carol which takes place next week.

We have also had Adam from the five sister zoo come in and tell us about native animals. We have partnered up with a school in Ghana where we will exchange letters and posters on our native animals.

We have also went down to primary 3 to bake gingerbread after that we went down to got watch the infant nativity which was amazing.

TheLifeOfTay!

Another busy, busy, week in Tay.

We have had a great time outside…suited and booted we have enjoyed running around with our friends.

We have also enjoyed some food technology and have made yummy biscuits with jam and icing…and jelly tots! Scrummy!

We also loved our Christmas Dinner…clean plates!

Our fine motor skills are also coming along fantastically…as we practice our pencil grip, we are working hard to control the pencil across lines and shapes.

In our numberwork we are increasingly confident at 1-10 and are going to be moving onto patterns and shapes!

We can’t believe that we only have a week to go before we have finished our first term!

Catholic Education Week 2024 | St Mary's RC Primary School

“We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us, and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far- sighted vision. The forthcoming Jubilee can contribute greatly to restoring a climate of hope and trust as a prelude to the renewal and rebirth that we so urgently desire; that is why I have chosen as the motto of the Jubilee, Pilgrims of Hope. ” Pope Francis

December in P1

Wow what an exciting time in Primary 1, Santa 🎅🏻 has sent one of his elf’s to our classroom. He brought us a Christmas tree 🎄 all the way from the North Pole and left us some things to decorate it with.

We have also decorated our classroom door for Christmas 🎄

We have been working super had practicing the Nativity show and are looking forward to performing it for you next week!

In RE we learned about St Andrew and that he is the patron saint of Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 to celebrate this we made our very own Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 flags.

Our writing inspiration for this week was The Elf, we drew our own elf’s and described them as well as giving them a cheeky name.

On Friday Cookie Crumble left us instructions and ingredients to grow our own candy canes . Special soil, a candy cane seed and some special elf magic.

We also attended the school start of advent mass. We were very respectful and joined in when we could.

Have a lovely weekend.

Banging music lessons with Resilient Rhythms

P7/6 and P5 put on a superb performance for parents this week to showcase their learning from their workshop with Resilient Rhythms.
For  the past four weeks, both classes have taken part in the music lessons with Eamonn, who put them through their paces to experience how music can inspire and uplift. Classes demonstrated their new skills using percussion instruments to perform their concert.
One pupil said “I have love this workshop and have learned so much about beat and resilience”; another said “it was super fun and Iwant a drum kit for Christmas!”
Well done to all our pupils and huge thanks to Eamonn who was an inspirational coach! St Mary’s loved our time drumming with Resilient Rhythms,

Cooking 🧑‍🍳 Club P1&2

It’s sweet week! We made chocolate filled croissants 🥐.

We had had to use cutting skills for today’s cooking 🧑‍🍳 we cut the pastry into triangles and then rolled our chocolate 🍫 in the pastry 🥐. We had to paint them with milk before we cooked them.

A adult had to put them in the oven and set the timer. We could smell them cooking, they smelled delicious.

TheLifeOfTay!

What a busy first week of December!

We have been out on the field filling our lungs with fresh air as we ran around!

We have been to the Outdoor Classroom where we have engaged in Block Play!

We have been to the Sensory Room and enjoyed the lights and the music….We love the Infinity Panel!

We have been to the Trim Trail….complete with waterproofs and wellies as it’s a bit muddy…and we love mud!

We have learned lots in our classroom….We have learned about the initial sound ‘j’ and practiced our number work to 10.

We have painted monsters and loved our ‘What’s in the Box’ times….shaving foam was a big hit!
