TheLifeOfTay!

Welcome back!

We are so happy that you have rejoined our page to follow us on our Summer Term adventures!

August seems a long time ago, and we have made so any memories since then.  We are loving every adventure and new experience.

This week, we have returned from our time with family and friends with gusto!

We have engaged with Literacy and Numeracy and enjoyed time outside in the Spring sunshine. We have also taken on construction challenges and enjoyed water play too…and we continue to love drawing!

We look forward to your joining us on our adventures as we begin our first Summer Term in Tay.

What we have been doing in P7!!!

In p7 we have been doing persuasive writing about if footballers get paid too much which we reviewed on how much other jobs get paid which was surprisingly less than football.

In P7 we are finishing up decimals which was pretty difficult we learned new maths language such as hundredth tenths thousandths we also know how to add subtract ,multiply and divide, decimals.

At the St Mary’s fun fair we had lots of stalls meaning lots of fun! P1-7 enjoyed the games and challenges at the fun fair they also enjoyed the raffle winning a big chocolate Easter egg for two raffles of the raffles!

St Mary’s got talent happens only once a year and people go on stage and show of their hidden talents that some people may not know about it was lots of fun for P1-7.

stations of the cross is about Jesus final moments in his wonderful life the stations of the cross is a big part in St Mary’s curriculum in catholic education at St Mary’s.

Free time is a big part in St Mary’s but you will need to behave to get it the most noticeable free time is fun31 which you get 31minutes to play Fridays but if you are well behaved and following the school values it might get extended on  your teacher’s behalf. We have a new barbers station where we have enjoyed styling each other’s hair.

thanks TP&MK

P3🏆🥖

We started with St Marys got talent. P3 performed two acts, a dancing act and a signing performance of the colours of the rainbow with sign language. Our acts done amazing and our dancers even came 1st place! 🏆

In maths, we began exploring temperature. We carried out a fun investigation where we measured the temperature of three different cups of water. This helped us learn how to read thermometers and compare temperatures, while also thinking carefully about why the water might have different temperatures.🌡️

We also carried on with measurement using balance scales. First, we looked at different objects and made our own predictions about which ones would be the heaviest or lightest. Then we used the scales to test our ideas and see if we were right. We talked about what it means when the scales balance and what happens when one side goes down, helping us understand how to compare weight.

To end the week, we had a very special treat. Through our persuasive writing, we successfully convinced Miss Pritchard to let us walk to Subway! We had such a great time ordering our food, practising how to pay using both cash and card, and sitting together to enjoy our meals. 💵🥖
When we returned to school, we wrote a recall of our trip, describing what we did and what we ordered. It was a great way to reflect on our experience.

We ended the week with an Easter egg hunt 🐣 we hope everyone has a lovely Easter break!

TheLifeOfTay!

We can’t believe that we are at the end of our second term at St Mary’s.

This week we have enjoyed sensory experiences…we love the different textures of jelly and cream!

Some of us have also enjoyed playing shopkeeper!

We have also enjoyed our breakfast in class and lunch times with our friends.

We have also challenged ourselves to completing jigsaws.

In our time outside we have loved playing in the Spring sunshine and hope next term to leave our wellies behind!

We have also continued to brush our teeth in class and put our coats and shoes away to keep our class tidy.

We wish you all a wonderful holiday period together and we hope that you join us again in April to follow our adventures in the Summer Term!

P3 🌳☀️

Yesterday during outdoor learning with Miss Nelson, Primary 3 had a fantastic time planting seeds. The children enjoyed getting hands-on in nature, learning how to plant and what plants need to grow. They worked together to dig holes, place the seeds in the ground, and talked about how these seeds will grow into trees in the future.

P3 could talk about what they had learned during outdoor learning!

  • “We planted seeds yesterday” – Kenzo

  • “Trees are going to grow from the seeds” – Dillon

  • “A plant needs water and sun to grow” – Lucas

  • “We had to dig a hole in the ground to put the seeds in” – Emily 🌱

P7/6 Theatre Trip and Outdoor Learning

Some of P7/6 enjoyed a trip to see Matilda in Edinburgh this week. It was a fantastic production! We are all looking forward to seeing the upper school put on the show at the end of the year!
In outdoor learning we have been planting trees and enjoying a blindfolded scavenger hunt!
In numeracy we are working on our decimals and in IDL we have begun a detailed look at WWII including which planes were used in the Battle of Britain and how the war began. We will be going on a school trip to East Fortune in May so we are looking forward to learning about this in class first!
In writing we have written several persuasive pieces – getting very good at this. We are also working on various spelling patterns and strategies, handwriting and guided reading skills. Well done P7/6!
