p2c June 1st Home learning

Good morning p2c,

I hope you all had lots of fun the past two weeks with our fitness fortnight, I sure enjoyed the challenges set by Mr Tennant.

We have updated our grid this week to give you the option f one literacy, one numeracy and two other tasks per day. Please do not feel you must complete all of these tasks, they are optional. I would love to see some of the activities you have managed to complete. Please share with me on twitter @MissButlerSPS

week 8 – click here

I will be updating sumdog, education city and active learn throughout the week, so keep an eye out for new challenges there.

Now that Mr Tennents challenges are finished – mine have returned. Todays challenge is to carry out a random act of kindness. Remember you have to do this sneakily (it could be leaving a nice note on a loved ones pillow, helping with the washing up after dinner etc.) I would love to hear about your acts of kindness.

Keep up the great work p2!

Miss Butler

P3 teachers’ deep sea adventure.

During the February break the P3 teachers had an amazing adventure. The teachers were all ready to go on a trip in Miss McGregor’s submarine. They were going to the ocean to observe sea creatures, but were worried the huge submarine might frighten them away. What Miss McGregor and Mrs Dunsmore didn’t know was that Miss Blyth had been busy inventing a shrink ray in secret. After many difficult tests and tweaks it was finally finished. Miss Blyth suggested bringing her shrink ray on the trip. If the submarine was smaller, they could go among the creatures and not scare them. What a great idea! The animals under the sea were not at all worried at the sight of the tiny submarine. When the trip was over, Miss Blyth used the reverse switch on her shrink ray to return the submarine and the teachers back to their normal size. Miss Blyth, Miss McGregor and Mrs Dunsmore had a wonderful trip that they would never forget.

Miss Blyth’s Daily Challenge

Happy Friday! It’s the last day of Fitness Fortnight. We’d all like to say a massive well done for how engaged you’ve been with the activities and challenges over the last two weeks!

My Friday challenge is a scavenger hunt around your house! See if you can find something shaped like a cube, a cylinder, a sphere, a cuboid and (as an extra challenge) a pyramid!

Word families under the sea.

Good morning. What a lovely day! We hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine.

For our word families today we have “et “, “ig” and”ug”. Can you think of more words for each family?

There is a space in the middle of the picture. What word family and sea creature would you include there? ‬Could you tell someone a story about the sea creatures?

If you have any suggestions for adding to the picture, or if you have more words to add to each family, please comment on the post or tag @missblyth1 and @MrsLDee on Twitter.

Miss Blyth’s Daily Challenge

Happy Thursday! I have an art challenge for you today. I was so excited to see all the amazing responses to last week’s art challenge, keep up the hard work!

Today’s art challenge is to draw a squiggle on your page and see if you can create a piece of art from it. Sometimes it helps to turn your page around to see it from a different angle. Here’s my squiggle:

And here is the drawing I created from it! I had to turn my face until my squiggle was on its side, and then I used it as the muzzle of a dog! I’d love to see what you come up with – P3C can share with Mrs Dunsmore on Twitter @MrsLDee, P3B and P3A can share their responses with me on Twitter @MissBlyth1 and P4/3 can share their responses on Teams!

Daily Challenges Task

Morning everyone, today’s task is to have a go at the below challenges which I have been setting over on Twitter. Some will take real determination and concentration! Can you choose something from the picture below which describes what you are working on in each video? Listen carefully during each clip as there may be a clue!

Word families under the sea part 2

Hello P3. Today we have the “ed” word family. There are 5 “ed” words on today’s star fish:

bed, fed, led, red and wed.

Can you come up with some of your own?

Yesterday I added some words to my “ip” list – pip, ship and trip.

The P3 teachers love to see your work, so if you can, please share any word family art, word family lists and grid activity by commenting on this post or on Twitter, tagging @missblyth1 and @MrsLDee

Guess your teacher!

Good afternoon everyone!
Did you manage to spot any changes in your environment? You might have noticed that the seeds you have planted are beginning to grow or that the caterpillars you are caring for are getting bigger and bigger…
Change happens to us all. We all grow as we get older.
So we thought it would be good fun to play a game of ‘Spot your teacher!’  Have a look at the photo below and see if you can guess who the teachers are from the pictures using the numbers next to them.. You will notice that we have changed quite a lot!
If you can get a piece of paper and a pen or pencil, copy this list of all your teachers names and choose which number should match which teacher. For example: if you think Miss Brown is number 5 then put a 5 next to Miss Brown’s name.
Here is a list of all your teachers:
Miss Brown
Mrs Tomczynski
Miss Sneddon
Miss Meldrum
Mrs Brown
Mrs Robb
Miss McMorran
Mrs Aitken
Miss Reilly
Mrs Lejkowski
Mrs Galloway
Mrs Fawkes
Mrs Henderson
Mrs Quin
Mrs Peat
And then if you like you could send me a picture of when you were very little to lucy.brown@westlothian.org.uk and I can get the ladies to guess who it is
Have Fun everyone!

Miss Blyth’s Daily Challenge

It’s Wednesday! Lots of fun Fitness Fortnight activities to be trying today!
Today for my daily challenge I would like you to complete the sums below with either the +, -, x or ÷ symbols. You can double check them by completing the sums!
1) 50 ___ 10 = 5
2) 17 __ 2 = 34
3) 123 __ 16 = 107
4) 123 __ 16 = 139
Try creating a few of your own questions, too!
Edited to add answers:
  • 50 _÷_ 10 = 5
  • 17 _x_ 2 = 34
  • 123 __ 16 = 107
  • 123 _+_ 16 = 139
