First Bus has worked closely with teachers across Scotland to develop a resource pack for schools, with the aim of providing children with a fun filled set of activities focused around buses. This is a great resource to educate pupils on the benefits of using public transport.  Each page has been created specifically around the core educational framework of the curriculum for excellence; literacy, numeracy, creativity and problem solving. As usual I will be sharing Number Talk challenges on my Twitter @cetrangolomiss. I have also set new challenges on Sumdog. It is great to see that some of you have completed the assessments I set on Sumdog. If not, please have a go at these before Thursday. Remember to make use of Education City, IDL and Teach your monster to read as these are great online resources to help with learning at home too. Keep sharing your learning on Twitter with me as I love seeing all the learning you are doing at home.

Good Afternoon P2A,

I hope you are all doing well! For those who has not seen the posts on my Twitter account @CetrangoloMiss, I have set a Time assessment, Spelling Assessment and Grammar Assessment on Sumdog to have a go at! For the Spelling Assessment there are two sets- 1a and 1b. Please don’t feel like you must do both sets, set 1a is a bit more challenging.

I hope you have all managed to relax and have fun during the Easter Break! Here is an update for home learning next week:

1. Home Learning Grid 3 has been attached.

2. There are new Spelling, Numeracy and Grammar challenges on Sumdog to have a go at and are to be completed by Sunday 26th April.

3. UNICEF are publishing an article alongside some activities every week which explore children’s Rights. This week the article is all about ensuring children have the right to the best possible health. I have attached the power point for this activity.

4.  I have been sharing Number Talk challenges daily on Twitter. The aim of Number Talks is to develop children’s mental strategies. Once they have solved the problem mentally they should then be encouraged to write down their strategies and thinking so that their ideas can be shared. I have attached some examples.  As you can see I have explained my thinking next to my sums.

Don’t feel you have to complete all the activities in one week. Please remember to take time to relax, have regular breaks and have fun enjoying the sunshine!

Hi all, I will posting daily Number Talks challenges on twitter which have been provided by FV&WL Numeracy Academy.  We recently began implementing Number Talks in our classroom. It is a great way to get children to talk about maths and to develop their ability to explain their strategies and thinking. The problems are to be solved mentally. Hi P2A! Well done on all your hard work during the first week of home learning. It is great to see that some of you have been able to log on and complete some activities on Sum Dog, IDL, teach your monster to read, and education city.

I have set a numeracy, reading and spelling challenge on Sum Dog which you can have a go at! It is to be completed by the end of next week (Sunday 5th April). I will be starting to set new challenges every Sunday on Sum Dog for you to complete the following week.
