P6 Weekly Blog

This week we have been drawing pictures about all of the sports which will feature in the Commonwealth Games which will be held in Glasgow  in July.  We produced our best work and we hope some will be selected to appear in the athletes village. Next week we will put up some of our finished entries for you to see.

We started our football training with Greg from Broxburn United Football Club. He is helping us all to lead a healthy lifestyle by making sure we eat healthily and take regular excercise.  We were doing  sit ups and wall presses to improve our personal fitness.  We have been given fitness homework to help us improve our levels of fitness.

This Friday Eilidh, Jamie Lee and Niamh will be taking part in the gymnastics display which will be held at 11.45. Good luck girls!

P7 are on Didbook!

Busy on the Netbooks!

Primary 7 have been busy updating their new Didbook profiles.  Didbook has taken over from our reflective diaries where we can think and write about our learning.  W e created targets last week and are all trying hard to achieve them.

Primary 3 football

Primary 3 finished their 5 week course today of football skills with James from Broxburn United Sports Club. During the 5 weeks, primary 3 learned the importance of being healthy and fit and also how important it is to offer encouragement to your team mates. Today all the class received medals to take home for all their hard work over the last few weeks.

Primary 2

This week the children took part in our Scottish Assembly.  Well done to Nathan and Oliwia for reciting their Scottish poems and to Lucas, Cerys, Callum and Kamila for performing The Canadian Barn Dance with pupils from primary three.

We have also been learning about 3D shapes and have used them to make models.  In literacy we have been learning about magic ‘e’ and how it changes the sound of the middle vowel, for example, cap becomes cape.  Can you find some more words that can be changed by adding magic ‘e’ to them?

P1 Reflective Learning

This week Primary 1 have been learning about Robert Burns.

We drew portraits of him (which you can see in the picture) and wrote words and sentences about him.

We learned..

  • That he wrote poems and songs
  • We have a Burns Supper
  • We wear kilts at a Burns Supper
  • We eat haggis, neeps, tatties, oatcakes and cheese
  • Grown-ups drink whisky and they have a toast.

We are looking forward to our own Burns supper tomorrow!

Until later 🙂

Primary 1

Primary 1/2

This week one of the things we have been learning is about symmetrical patterns.  We made our own patterns on butterflies and predicted what would happen when we folded them in half.  We also looked at symmetrical shapes and predicted from half a shape what it would be once it was completed.

Challenge – At home look for symmetrical shapes and patterns and leave a message on the blog telling us what you found.  Use the address in your homework diary to post what you found.

Primary 3

Primary 3 have been learning about using adjectives in their writing to make it more interesting. See if you can improve these sentences by adding some interesting describing words.

1. The boy ran down the street.

2. I walked round the house.

3. I put on my jumper.

P1 Famous Scots

Primary 1 (and Primary 1/2) have been learning about James Watt and why he was a Famous Scot.

We learned…

  • James Watt made different types of steam engine
  • He needed fire and water to make steam to power the engine
  • Because he invented the steam engine for steam trains, we now have electric trains

Homework task.. Find out about a famous train! Use the email address in your homework diary to post what you find on the blog. Good luck!
