Primary 6 Update

This week we completed various activities relating to Remembrance Day.

The whole school took part in a one minute silence, which provided an opportunity to reflect and remember all those who fought for our country. To remember the soldiers who have died in the wars both past and present.

We were set a challenge to create a piece of artwork that would convey a message about this important day in history. We used pupil choice to select one of the following options, which focused on using a range of different art techniques:

  • Pointillism Poppies
  • Stained Glass Window Soldiers
  • Flanders Field

Assembly

The stars of today’s assembly were Primary 5 who took us back to the days of Mary Queen of Scots and told us all about her life. We learned about her husbands, her travelling and her hopes that her cousin Elizabeth would help her.

The cast coped really well with the glitches in technology, and with the weather trying to take part!

Well done Primary 5.

What was your favourite part of the assembly?

Anti bullying week – Primary 6

Primary 6 have been thinking about how our emotions and actions can have an impact on our friends and the people around us.  This can be positive and helpful, or negative and sometimes even hurtful.

We thought about times when we free others to be themselves.

Here are some of the fantastic examples:

‘I free people when I tell them to be themselves and be happy.  I free people when I ask them to play with me and smile.  I free people when I tell them ‘Whatever they call you, nasty things, it isn’t true.’ ‘ – Sophie Martin.

‘I free people when I can respect how they are and understand how they are.  I free people when I see they are trying hard to be themselves.  I free people when they stop doing (things) to me and I can understand how or why they’re doing it.’- Sophie Campbell.

Primary 7 Assembly

Here are the stars of yesterday’s assembly- Primary 7.  They shared what they had learned about World War 2 and told the story of two children who were evacuated to safety.  Thank you for helping us to mark the season of remembrance Primary 7. The picture shows the cast at the end of the show.

Nursery news

The children in Nursery have been learning about our school rules, and telling each other how we make our school the best it can be. Have a look at their great ideas!

Thank you for the Vouchers!

Thank you to everyone who collected and donated Sainsbury’s  Active Kids vouchers. These have now been counted up and sent off with an order for some cooking and food preparation equipment and a big bag to keep the Kitchen Kit in.  This will be in use a lot next year in the classes across the school as we learn how to peel, chop, grate, mix, make – and taste- lots of different types of food. Yummy!
