Primary 5 – May the Force be with you!

P5 started their new IDL topic ‘Forces’ this week. They started by looking at some exciting chain reactions where lots of  forces make mechanisms move. The favourite was the Rube Goldberg Page Turner. They then looked into different types of forces. The first one to be investigated was ‘friction’. A friction experiment using toy cars and elastic bands was conducted. The children used rulers to measure the amount of force needed to move the car on different surfaces. Many predictions were proven correct as less force was needed on smoother surfaces.
