Primary 4 Learning Overview – Term 2
Primary 4 Team on Glow
Hello,
P4 should now all have their Glow login details at home. Please let me know if they have any problems logging in and accessing the P4 Class Team. I have set up a channel for each reading group and there is a ‘Home Learning’ channel too. It would be lovely if children shared any ‘outside of school learning’ on the Home Learning channel.
Many thanks
Mrs McJimpsey
Talk Money Week 2023
Talk Money Week Home Challenge
Talk Money Week is an opportunity for everyone to get involved with events and activities across the UK which help people have more open conversations about their money – from pocket money to pensions – and continue these conversations year-round.
The ‘Magic Mathematicians’ Pupil Voice Group would like to invite you to take part in our Talk Money Challenge. We would like you to think about how we keep money safe.
We would like you to design and create one of the following:
- money container
- wallet
- purse
You can use recycled junk or fabric.
Please bring in your finished design by Friday 10th November.
The Magic Mathematicians will choose their favourite designs from the following age categories:
- P1-P2
- P3-P4
- P5-P7
P4 Junk Request for Thursday 26th October 2023
Next week (Thursday) the children will be making something exciting from junk!
Please could I ask for your support with donating any recycling you may have e.g. cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, kitchen rolls, clean yoghurt pots, plastic fruit trays etc. If you could send your children in with these on Wednesday or Thursday, I would be very grateful.
Many thanks
Mrs McJimpsey
Primary 4 – October
Black History Month
We learned about Rosa Parks.
“She is significant because she refused to move off her seat for a white person when there were unfair laws to say she had to. She influenced change in her country to change laws” (Grace)
Writing
We were writing Autumn poems with a partner using Glow to type.
Maths
“We are learning to put numbers in the correct order. Sometimes from smallest to largest and sometimes from largest to smallest” (Kyle)
Maths Week Scotland
P4 took part in an outdoor symmetry challenge this week. They used natural material and loose parts to create symmetrical art. It was important that both sides of the chalk line were the same. Mrs McJimpsey was also so pleased at how cooperatively we worked with our teams. Next term, our next step in symmetry will be to create pictures with more than one line of symmetry.
Primary 5
Hello from P5!
Here are some of our highlights from our week:
“I enjoyed hockey in P.E, we were passing and next week we will try tackling.” – Jake
“We planted poppies in pots as part of our new IDL topic.” – Connor
“We learned how to speak some Spanish yesterday with Mrs Gordon.” – Iona
“We have been learning how to bridge when adding amounts of money.” – Jessica
“We planned our writing this week, it is an explanation piece about the water cycle.” – Jacob & Grace
Have a great weekend,
P5
Primary 5
P5 have been learning to understand why fruit and vegetables are good for our body. We have explored how they can be sorted into the colours of the rainbow with each colour having specific benefits to our bodies. We learned that red fruits and vegetables can be good for our hearts and yellow provide vitamin C to help our immune system. We have started some artwork to share our learning with you. Take a sneaky peek:
