Nursery Update for 19th April

You will be aware that from the 19th April, the nursery hours will be changing to accommodate the Early Years Expansion, as directed by the Scottish Government.

We will still have cohorts in operation from 19th April to limit children’s contact with each other and the nursery staff.

Please find information below in regards to our nursery day which follow the updated Scottish Government guidance for schools and our local risk assessment, most of which you will be familiar with but we have updated this to reflect the change in hours.

Nursery Easter Holidays

Just a reminder that our nursery is closed on Monday 5th April and open as normal from Tuesday 6th April.

The main school office will be closed until 19th April, meaning there is no access to our main school phone number or email.  Please phone 01506 280997 to report an absence or in an emergency. If your child is absent, please phone between 8:00-9-00am. If your child is going to be absent in the afternoon please phone between 1:15-2:00pm.

P4 Space Topic

Our P4 STEM topic was Space – using the sun to explore the idea of time, days, months, and years.

We explored how patterns of the Sun, Moon and Earth are linked to daily life, seasons, time, day and night.  We also considered why it is important to understand how to tell/measure time accurately in our daily life and routines.  We identified how technology has changed to allow us to access time in a variety of ways.

On Friday we completed our paper plate sundials and waited for the sun to appear to try them out.  Thankfully we were able to get out for a short time.

Term 3 P.E. Days

Thank you for your support with school uniform and our new approach to P.E. kit.

This is just a reminder of what children should wear on P.E. days.

We would request that on P.E. days children wear to school:

  • white polo shirt/ t-shirt – with school logo or plain
  • blue sweatshirt/cardigan – with school logo or plain
  • P7 – black sweatshirt/cardigan
  • plain black tracksuit bottoms/ joggers
  • black trainers
  • girls who are wearing a skirt over their leggings can remove their skirt on P.E. days
  • we would recommend that they don’t wear their shirt and tie on their P.E. days

In order to continue with our inclusive ethos and promoting our school identity we would request that children don’t wear branded clothing. We also have nearly new school polo shirts and sweatshirts that can be purchased for a small donation.

We would request that on non P.E. days children wear their normal school uniform.
