Neurodiversity Week 2024

This week, 18th-24th March is Neurodiversity Celebration week.

The Pupil Council and Inclusive Schools groups have explored neurodiversity and been investigating ways in which our school supports neurodiverse learners.

The link below takes you to the Neurodiversity Celebration week website. There are some great videos here that explain neurodiversity (e.g. autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD) in more detail. There are also lots of resources available to support parents/carers.

Primary 3/2

To celebrate world book day Primary 3/2 made bookmarks out of old books.

We also tuned into Authors Live with Sarah Bowie and she showed us how to draw some characters from her book Nina Peanut is amazing.

Primary 1

In Science, Primary 1 have been learning about The Senses. Here is a photo of us on our Senses field walk.

We  talked about and drew pictures of our favourite things to see, hear, touch, taste and smell.

H – I love to hear birds singing.

E –  I  love to touch Millie my dog. She is fluffy.

A-  I like to taste cheese sandwiches.

H _ I love to see my Mummy, Daddy and my little sister.

M – I like to smell flowers,

Primary 3

Primary 3 were set the task to recycle used books for World Book Day! They made bookmarks out of recycled books. Primary 3 created their own bookmarks by carefully cutting an old page into the shape they wanted. They could customise their stick in any way they desired to make it unique. They made such a fantastic job!

Primary 3 are excited to use them the next time they read!

Sport and Physical Activity at PUSCPS

As part of my PEPAS (Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport) role within the school, I am looking to gather more information about your understanding of sport and physical activity within the local community.

Thank you to those who have already completed the survey at our most recent curriculum evening.

The survey will take less than 5 minutes to complete and will help with providing more physical activity and sport activity opportunities for our young people.

Thank you for your support,

Miss Walkingshaw

Outdoor Learning Amnesty

Hello everyone,

Just a small request from me! I am looking to create a set of resources which can be used across the school for outdoor learning activities. Attached below is a list of the types of things I am hoping to collect – if you happen to have any of these at home and wouldn’t mind donating them then that would be greatly appreciated. They can be handed in to me or left at the school office, where I will pick them up.

Resource Amnesty

Many thanks in advance!

Primary 6 Trip to Sky Academy

Primary 6 went to the Sky Academy, Livingston yesterday to take part in creating a movie trailer.

The children worked as groups to create a fictional movie trailer which they were able to keep and show to our parents/carers at home.

We had a great day and can’t wait to go back again someday or even become movie stars in the making!
